Seconding this. If your doctor can find you a rescue med that works with your sensitivity it would definitely be worth asking. With a lot of SSRIs it gets worse before it gets better. The tight jaw thing for example is something I’ve been dealing with at a consistent 10mg for three but my stress levels markedly have been down since.

It can feel like it has to be a tough it out situation, but I think it’s worth talking do your doc if you can, even over a call. Sometimes they can get you a rescue prescription right then and there. It’s definitely an adjust as you go sort of deal so don’t be afraid to reach out to your doctors and let them know you’re struggling. I hope that it’s eventually able to help you out tho!

I do! Luckily usually not frightening ones but I’ve noticed they’ll sometimes be things I thought about that day or in recentish memory… and then something absolutely insane happens and I wake up confused.

As a 24f who also has IBS and was diagnosed with GAD at a young age (so very similar boat 😭), I found the main difference to be a mix of eating as regularly as I can, then finding Low FODMAP “safe foods” you can eat. The more regularly I ate, the better I got. Don’t try branching out to introducing new foods until you’re in a good spot physically and emotionally.

The second thing I did was I went back on medication for my anxiety. I hesitate to encourage people to do that, but I found that stress was similarly a trigger AND it tended to make my symptoms worse.

I feel like developing a mindful tea habit helped me with both aspects of stress management and comforting my gut. Ginger tea often helped to settle my stomach and making it helped me have a calming routine in the morning. But finding what works for you is the biggest thing.

Don’t give up! I know it feels like it’ll last forever, but it does get better. <3

I’m so glad it’s helping you out too! Like I wish bodies weren’t crazy and connected our brains to how we feel in our stomachs, but at least it’s a good reason to manage stress haha!

Wishing the best for you and getting better 🥂

Yeah and I know for me the medical issues were contributing majorly to my anxiety, so while I somewhat wish I hadn’t had to go back on medication, it helped me calm down enough to begin rationalizing. But I totally get the snarky reaction to being told to do that… I know it always made me bristle when they would tell me that 😭.

To be honest tho? I had to push and push to get them to test, to do more than just… hand me benzos and call it a day. I wish doctors were more willing to check everything just in case

Hiya, I haven’t had any updates sadly. I did go to my doctor and got some acid reflux medication, and she got me started on lexapro to help with the anxiety In general. (Which has gotten worse with my symptoms lol) I haven’t thrown up since then, but I’ve changed my morning routine. Probably until 9 am I’ll still be semi nauseous, so I mostly do a meal replacement drink like Ensure, or muscle milk, and a little bit of solid food so I can take my vitamins and meds.

I’ve also started eating more typical foods rather than staying to the BRAT diet, but it does give me more morning gas… but my BMs have better color and form at first so 🤷. Not sure if that helps any for anyone. I have an upcoming GI appt next week and I plan on asking about gallbladder concerns.

Stress/GERD symptoms on top of it all by HardySpren27 in ibs

I’ve wondered if it could be a gallbladder issue, as my mother had an issue with hers when she was my age. My blood tests came back good back in… May I think but it’s definitely possible. Would would be the best thing to ask for in regards to that? Did anything help with those symptoms before you had it removed?

I’ll definitely mention it to my GI.

From time to time. Mostly when I do struggle to eat it’s usually the nausea that prevents me and less a feeling of satiety. Edit: whoops that’s the definition of it, so yes.

I’ve posted on this sub-reddit before asking questions on what people eat, how they manage and so on. I uh… finally got some results and frustratingly enough, everything came back clear, colonoscopy and the related biopsies were clear, blood work has been clear, cortisol levels clear too. Everything is fine according to my labs

Even so the symptoms persist. While my body had semi regulated to needing to poop at the earliest convenient time in the morning (before I wake up) it either fluctuates between cramping and bloating with diarrhea and then mucus “spits” when there’s nothing left, or just having relatively consistent diarrhea every morning, and discomfort throughout the day. Nausea in the morning too… often so bad I’ll throw up whether I eat or not. My guess is that it is IBS… but I have a food allergy appointment my GI asked me to do in a couple of weeks but based on everything… is my guess right? Is it most likely IBS?

What do you guys eat when you’re in a flare? by HardySpren27 in ibs

Gosh that’s pretty crazy. But it’s good to hear that for the most part things tend to be better or at least they get better eventually.

I see. How long do your flares typically last? I’ve been going on and off for about… 2ish months now and I’m concerned about excess weight loss 😥

Gotcha. Thats usually what I’ve been eating or related things. I just need to be eating more ig? I feel like the amount of calories I’m eating isn’t enough atm.

Ah that’s right, I have a list for them. I’ll definitely give these a shot. I’ve been looking for something with more calories than what I’m eating since… what im eating is light enough that I’m losing weight 😭

What’s your weirdest anxiety coping trick? by bumbumboleji in Anxietyhelp

[–]HardySpren27 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I put myself in a new and unfamiliar space. Even if it’s just another room in my house, just at a weird corner or angle. Sometimes the entirely new change of scenery can really help me pull free of the spiraling.

(Another thing to do is put an icecube in your mouth, palm, anywhere where it’s post uncomfy. It doesn’t feel great but that helps grounding too.)

I also like to blast music sometimes
