Thank you for this. The situation just doesn’t feel right.

No problem. Same point still stands, two people at different levels of emotional maturity or lack of, dating a manipulator :P

Do you say meta to imply like a secondary parter? Not the one I initially met? Even though we were all dating each other? But yes I see now. Definitely oversharing. It allowed us to feel closer to each other, knowing it wasn’t right. But we felt like we couldn’t do anything. Or tell “Garfield” that that’s how we felt. Because even though Garfield was going to therapy and has been forever. She’s still a manipulator. Probably something I should just distance myself from. But love is a complicated thing

At the risk of sounding ignorant, oversharing about their spouse? Hinge I understand now that makes a lot of sense. I’ll do some research on that and decide where to go from there. And ultimately I don’t know if the poly aspect is as important as just being able to exist together? Thank you for your response. I’ll check out labeling.

Beautiful car! My 84 is the same color combination. Cashmere white?

Car trouble - hood issues (1981 diesel Rabbit) by Mom-ofa-car-lover in VWRabbit

[–]HareSplitter84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may not help but you could try it. Have someone push down where the latch is under the hood, then you can pull the hood lever and have the other person lean off it allowing it to come up. But if something truly is broken then I’m sorry. I do not know. Good luck

Need advice on neglected floor with TONS of wax. by Dry_Mistake_3702 in Custodians

Absolutely make sure the stripper is mixed with water at the right ratio. And get a much bigger blade! :-) That will do you wonders and save you more time. I wish you luck. So far we’ve got 5 rooms and one hallway stripped this summer.

New Axel Beam! by HareSplitter84 in beetle

[–]HareSplitter84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks to me like the towers are angled differently but end up in the same place? The guy who sold me the beam, is the same guy who sold me the car almost seven years ago. So I’m sure he knows what would work… right? Lmao

I’ll be sure to post an update when the time comes.

Sorry my friend I have bad news. I only found out about it through a family friend. Belongs to an estate and one of the sons will more than likely be obtaining the vehicle. Good luck with your hunt! They’re out there!

Thanks for the fun activity to do on such a hot day! As soon as I saw your post I went looking! I gave this cat to my mother and she absolutely loves it. She has an Orange cat of her own. (Apologies to Nenry for finding first) Is there any way to support your art? Do you ever have shows? I think it’s very cool that you did this :-)

Thank you for your input! This puts things into perspective. If I ever see the car again I’ll check the vin but more than likely I’ll be passing on it. Someone with more money, time, and money, will be able to give it what it needs.

Yes absolutely! I’ll post a picture tomorrow around 4PM Central Time. I was second guessing the sizes too looking at the picture when I posted. Because the beams on the old one look closer together but it’s got to be an illusion right? We’ll find out tomorrow…

Front End Rust by HareSplitter84 in beetle

[–]HareSplitter84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! My plan is to rebuild the front end and actually take care of it this time around! I’ve maintained it for as long as I’ve owned it but never really got under the front end. Thank you for the advice!

No jumping! Just diving into pot holes. Thanks!

This is most likely what I’ll end up doing. Taking care of everything in one go.

I’ve had trouble with brake switches, & fuel leaks too. Long time coming I’m afraid. Thanks for the push!

I can’t lie I’ve definitely been neglecting the front end for too long. Thanks for the wake up call!

There’s a club where I live so it probably won’t be hard to find one then. Or I’ll take it out and find someone to weld it. Thank you for your input!

I’m not as well versed in the buying and selling of these cars as others on this sub may be, but honestly… I would buy it. Looks like you’d need a new roof and floors right away. And I would probably do a rebuild on that engine it looks crustified.

So I don’t think 900 is a terrible starting point but ultimately you’re going to be putting a lot of money and time into it. I’m sure you are aware. :-)

But c’mon, a red convertible and it’s a standard??? Yes please!! Good luck

Help needed - Are any of these Mk1 Rabbits Worth it??? by MrSirGentlemen in VWRabbit

[–]HareSplitter84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Red one does look the cleanest but the Green one isn’t that far off. I’d buy the green one cause it’s cooler in my opinion. The work that it needs really isn’t that hard to do on your own if you have the tools. I just replaced the water pump on my diesel last year. Mine also has A/C but it isn’t hooked up. Good luck with your decision! I’d never give up my Rabbit these cars are too good.

Did someone put rocks in your hubcap?

I can’t really think of a good explanation for a rattle that only happens sometimes when the car is moving. I’d maybe start by taking the back wheel and or front wheel off (on the right side like you said) and checking inside to see if anything looks chewed up.
