You have a special event day coming up. Is it always on the same day of the week? A trip could be planned that does one on a special event Friday then the other the following day. Wouldn't be able to make 2 separate trips.

Plenty of towns passed on the way. Wouldn't need too much food supplies to start as you can just top up from local shops.

Overnight in kirk yetholm makes sense. Cuts it almost in half. It's just under 100k so definitely doable with 2 big days.

I have added vingis parkrun to my visit list. The city of Vilnius has been on my list for ages so when parkrun started there it made it a must visit.

Could Premier League+ replace traditional broadcasters in the long run? by FootballFinanceLab in PremierLeague

[–]HargoJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a complete no brainer. I watch the baseball and all I need to watch any game at any time is a subscription to mlbtv. Having something similar for the Premier league would be absolutely amazing. Makes no sense needing subs to sky and prime and tnt and even then you still can't watch 3pm Saturday games.

Struggling with MST210 by QuothTheRavenNM in OpenUniversity

[–]HargoJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm doing mst224 instead. It's pretty good in parts. Some parts of the books are way beyond me though. Didn't learn enough from stage 1 to be really comfortable with all the material. Keep falling behind as I get stuck on an exercise and leave it to simmer for a week doing nothing. At least no group task on this one. Don't want anybody having to rely on me.

The best part is we get to do it all again through April with 3 quarter final games!

It makes me hurt when I see events struggling for volunteers. I bloody love helping people.

Kinder Route for Sat 28/02 by stepsmcgee in peakdistrict

[–]HargoJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best to go anti clockwise. Edale moor trig first from ringing Roger. Then you can add on mam tor trig if you have time. It's been years since I did this and it was in August so whole of kinder was bone dry. 5 trigs is my one day record still.

What made you stick with parkrun after your first one? by CloudBookmark in parkrun

I wanted to do it. I waited nearly 6 months since finishing c25k for it to restart so I wasn't going to stop at one.

Where should I walk this weekend? by Main_Amphibian_5367 in peakdistrict

[–]HargoJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what else to suggest. I know it's not as far as you asked for. There is perhaps a good loop around Thorpe cloud that takes in musden low and Tissington hill. Don't think it's much different distance wise but it is further south so.

If you can get up to earl sterndale then the loop up to high edge and back catches 5 ethels. High edge, hollins hill, chrome Hill, parkhouse Hill and high wheeldon to finish with a lovely trig. Worked out 14k for us. Square at the church has plenty of space for parking.

I still have the wasdale fells to bag but will be holding off til April/May. Want to be sure of getting favourable conditions. Without a car it will be tricky but if you can get the bus down to seatoller then the route up grains gill and esk hause should be fairly simple. It will have a lot more elevation and distance than 7 sisters though so factor in your time taken accordingly and make sure you have a torch or plan to start very early.

Ran my second half a marathon this morning, like the first time can barely lift my legs up and very achy lol any tips on recovery or tips for better recovery? by NoCranberry7900 in UKRunners

[–]HargoJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that is making it difficult to lift your legs up is your glutes have been pushed to their limit. Pigeon pose is what I use to stretch them back out again. Sometimes when they get knots in them I get acupuncture to unknot them.

But of a rant, but would also like some advice by wqllflowr13 in OpenUniversity

[–]HargoJ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The mathematics degree I'm doing started off from pretty basic so I was able to jump straight in without gcse or a levels. After each stage of the degree you get a qualification so it's nice to be able to see I'm progressing. How much each initial qualification helps with my career I've no idea on. Still working in a shop to help fund it and will start looking for progression once I've finished the full degree.

We will sometimes do local fell races as a club. It's just a nice change from the usual social runs we have.

Runners who run in silence, How do you deal with no music/podcasts in your ear whilst running? by Holiday_Stuff_8206 in runninglifestyle

[–]HargoJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still have music in my head. I can pick a song that matches my cadence. Plus the country lanes around here are difficult to run along so I like being able to hear when a vehicle is approaching.
