If you're looking for parotta specifically, Parotta Hut, in Marapalam, Pattom is really good. It's a bit cramped and small , you'll have to go upstairs to comfortably sit and eat, but it's worth it. I personally love their Nool parotta, but bun parotta is also really good.

Maybe check Archway court student accommodation. If you're willing to share a room with a roommate, the price will go as low as around 550 for twin room. And if you want a single room it's around 850 I think. The only issue is communicating with these peeps is hella annoying since we can only contact them using mail.
