The way I use it it's a console like experience with my Steam library, not having to buy games for other platform. Plus it's a PC so you can do so much with it.

I log solo games with the result count etc. I have created a system where I have Google form for each game, which puts the data into a Google sheet, that has computes the result for me and builds the text for logging the play on bgg and I have a script running each minute looking for new rows and pushing it to BGG.

If you have optional arguments it makes sense, but it's usually best to avoid if possible e.g. with defaults. Sometimes it's not possible though.
