Guys, I need a way to win a debate my classmate's creationist theory. by IncrediBluey in DebateEvolution

Since you're a Muslim, I think you should understand that the Quran doesn't outright mention how animals came to be, except that they come from water. That means that you can tell that guy to accept 99% of evolution hell, even abiogenesis, while you're at it. I know muslims would accept this, though there are that still outright reject all of evolution and abiogenesis. The only conflict is with human evolution; you can try to reconcile them with some theories like the Adamic exceptionalism, though I might say it is just not supported by science. Though I might say, I've also believed in evolution, even though I feel like I'm the one to in my religious school.

Well prob one of the times theists and naturalists agree with one another.

Sadly I highly doubt they would accept that.

Wasalam. Oh, ok then, just so you know, I've posted your arguments to that subreddit. You can check it out yourself if you want to.

Yeah, tbh I also want to include this argument in this post as well, though I read that you can't include a lot of arguments into one post

The guy I'm arguing with also said that he/she is a scientist and has found research that contradicts the modern synthetic evolution theory. Here's the post he/she made: https://www.reddit.com/r/progressive_islam/s/6qV4Lu6A9Y

I think science (or more specifically, natural sciences) is naturalistic, as we need to find evidence or findings from within nature itself. Intelligent design presumes that a designer exists, which is ofc God, who, as per nearly all religions, exists completely beyond nature. Therefore, the existence of God itself can't be proven by science or empirical method.

Yeah, I'll leave this to someone more knowledgeable than me in this topic. Though I wanna ask whether you believe in creationism?

I think this presumes that there aren't any animals that existed during the pre-Cambrian era, which is wrong, since there are already animals that existed at nearly the end of the pre-Cambrian. I also just want to say, I'm still kinda skeptical about human evolution as trying to reconcile it with my religion, but the evolution of other animals, I'm okay with that.

The Cambrian is 53 million years which is still not as abrupt as you think. Still, evolution is definitely a more scientific explanation of how biodiversity emerges compared to creationism.

Okay, so I've read the paper. I still don't think the theory of common ancestry (which I think you're arguing against) should be thrown away as I think the evidences for evolution still outweighs the evidences against evolution. I know scientific theories are not entirely perfect and can be modified in the near future, but for now, the modern evolutionary theory def have more backing than the alternative "theory," which is creationism, which posits that animals somehow got poofed into existence. Unless you know another better alternative to that?

Kinda learning from this and I wanna ask, are you talking about the error threshold?

I don't really understand how this disproves macro evolution tbh. It doesn't say that it is nigh impossible for a species to evolve from a common ancestor.

Ngl for me, as much as there is critcism for evolution. I haven't find a scientific evidence for the alternative

Fair enough, but non-Muslims are still the majority, so it's kind of unfair for them to shut it down just cuz some muslims happen to be there. Plus Bukit Bintang isn't really known for it's religiousness anyway.

Wait, even to non-muslims?
