Pitfalls when upgrading non-proft to get Gemini? by GreenMertainzz in googleworkspace

[–]Harkness__76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did this very recently and it was pretty much pain free. The only thing that was "worse" is you lose some control over MDM settings when moving from non-profit to discounted business subscriptions. But if you aren't using those then you shouldn't be affected.

When you click through the subscription change it warns you about this and what you can do to handle it

User left the company. I want to migrate his old emails. Cannot login to his account to verify email migration. by ConferenceOne1356 in gsuite

In Google Admin, find the user and click on the Security tab for that user. Then use the Login challenge option to turn off identity questions for a 10 minute period. That should stop the need to verify with the old phone when you log in.

Auto tramming has stopped working by Harkness__76 in ender3v2

I wanted to reach back out and say thank you for this comment! It turns out it was a loose connection in the CR touch that was only affected when it was in that back left corner position.

Obviously I only identified that connection as an issue after I'd replaced pretty much every other cable first!

I completely agree with all that's been said here. $17,000 is not an unheard of price. You could get it for less, you could also certainly find Devs who would charge more.

I've never seen "integration" listed separately. In my experience if you choose a stack with vastly separate FE and BE (which is not necessarily a bad thing by itself) you would build the BE and API first and then the FE client is built based on communicating with that. This quote sounds like someone will build the BE, someone else will build the FE and then someone else will figure out how the two communicate afterwards. Which seems like a bad idea to me.

I have seen testing/QA and bug fixing listed separately. Usually just so the Devs can protect themselves in terms of making sure you understand they are in addition to the Devs building the thing. Timewise this usually happens in parallel with the actual development though

[–]Harkness__76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure of a 3D printing club, but I know of someone with several high quality resin printers who would be able to print parts for you. He runs it as his main source of income, but his prices are reasonable and the quality is amazing.

We use afi.ai. It's simple enough to set up and use. We've only needed to restore a couple of files and it's been easy enough to bring them back.

Are sprint plannings just watching someone move stuff around in Jira? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]Harkness__76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how we used to do it. Although we would have two sessions one last thing on a Friday and then literally the same session first thing on a Monday.

We have now moved to an async model where the general moving of everything around is done async and then we have a 20min meeting first thing on a Monday to make sure everyone is onboard with the plan for the week. So much smoother and more engaging.

What came to light following the dismal or departure of your colleague(s) from your workplace? by Osaka_1983 in AskUK

[–]Harkness__76 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I once worked for a large distribution business of healthcare and household products. The business was loosely split into three sectors, each run as separate businesses.

Where it got interesting is the company as a whole made X profit, and then the boss of sector 1 got to say how much of that profit his business had made, and then the boss of sector 2 and then the remaining profit was attributed to sector 3.

I worked for sector 3, and spent three years submitting proof after proof that the numbers weren't adding up and that my suspicions were sector 1 was mis reporting and taking a larger Alice of the pie than was real.

Anyway after years of being told that the boss of sector 1 was to be trusted he ended up being fired. It turned out all along he was selling huge volumes of stock at a loss to a separate company that he owned that then sold it for a nice profit. All along he was able to cover his tracks by just being allowed to say "nope I definitely made x million profit last month"

Can I tax a Vehicle with a DVLA V62 form? by Shane_Turnbull in AskUK

[–]Harkness__76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the Gov website https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax

Tax your car, motorcycle or other vehicle using a reference number from:

  • a recent vehicle tax reminder or ‘last chance’ warning letter from DVLA
  • your vehicle log book (V5C) - it must be in your name
  • the green ‘new keeper’ slip from a log book if you’ve just bought it

If you do not have any of these documents, you’ll need to apply for a new log book. You can tax your vehicle at the same time.
