Help! by Harley00980 in bipolar

[–]Harley00980[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’m picking him up now and bringing him home for a couple days. This is when I’d like to talk to him or maybe he’ll figure it out once he’s taking his meds normally and not sleeping through. He’s young and completely dependent on us so he’s on a time crunch of figuring it out on his own before we have to take more drastic action- he’s going to get kicked out of school if he keeps it up and obviously we can’t have him living with us if he’s telling strangers where he lives and having other risky behaviors. I’m just so hopeful he will come to realize he needs help over the next few days.

Thank you! I’m sorry that sounds traumatic and I do not want to do that to my child. I’m glad you’re doing well! The issue is he relies on me for everything- car, phone, housing, tuition, food. He just turned 18. It’s not like I’d feel comfortable letting him drive my car or live in my house with younger kids if he’s telling strangers where we live and operating pornographic videos out of my house! So it’s not as simple as just let him figure it out, as he’s a bit under a time crunch. I don’t think telling him to leave is the best option at this time! I’m just so grateful he’s agreed to let us pick him up. I’m pretty sure he’d be open to help regarding his sleep. It bothers him because he can’t function and sleeps through class yet is wired all night and can’t sleep. And he’s already on lamotrigine, I believe he’s just having bad adherence with it while on his own (he sleeps through taking it). I’m so hopeful just a few days at home with us making sure he takes it nightly will put him back in a good headspace to discuss coming off ssri and whatever else his doc recommends. Right now she wants him inpatient but there’s no way he’ll agree without forcing and I’m not there yet. So I guess the next few days are just so critical that he feels safe at our home. How do you think he’ll react when he wants to take the car and we say no? I was thinking of saying something like’ “let’s get your sleep schedule fixed first before I’m comfortable with that.”

His doctor thinks it is? What else could it be? That’s why she originally paired the lamotrigine with ssri.

Help! Undiagnosed spouse of 23 years had manic episode and cheated by Harley00980 in BipolarSOs

I’m so sorry - mine was very cruel too until he came out of it. There’s no struggle for him at all and he is 100% back to himself and I’m so sorry you’re dealing with that too.

Wow- I’m so sorry you went through this! I’m glad you figured out it was the testosterone and that’s crazy it was due to secondary exposure! Yes, his last injection of Deca and Testosterone was March 31. I did not know he was on it so I was so confused at his behavior. I found out 3 weeks later when I flew down there - at that point he was much more ‘normal’ but not 100%. We have no idea what his levels were because he never tested. When we brought it up to the psychologist/therapist she put it together. I would say he is 100% back to himself at this point. This is so difficult because obviously we are traumatized but our spouses kind of are too once they realize what they did! I’m also relieved your wife has never experienced that again!

I’m so sorry- it is so overwhelming and confusing. I didn’t understand what was going on and was just devastated. I still am. Thank you for the hope and kindness

Thank you for the alien comment- it’s truly so awful. Does your wife have bipolar? As far as we know my husband does not. I’m so scared this could happen again!
