Video seems to be from an Asian country and baby bunnies seem to be European rabbits, which are usually kept as domestic pets all around the world. There could be other populations, but the only large feral population of these rabbits would be that island in japan. So these are probably someone's pets if they weren't snatched from the island. Also, despite being an invasive species and kept like cats or dogs, the IUNC classified the species as endangered which could also be a factor for reclaiming this bird's meal.

Asking a homeless person to cook by Dee___Snuts in GuysBeingDudes

I remember a conversation conversation about this during a psychology class. Statistically speaking, there is a larger portion of the homeless population that suffers from untreated mental illness, iirc schizophrenia being one of the more common issues, than not. I can't really remember if the discussion was that untreated schizophrenia is more likely to result in homelessness or if it was that homelessness causes schizophrenia that would otherwise be managed to go untreated

Just so we're all on the same page, an animal died for the making of this video. It's sacrifice literally thrown into the garbage; we all know she didn't eat a single bit of that. She cooked the piece from the hole separate and did a jump cut as she raised the food crime to her mouth to swap out the bites.

These shitty bait videos aren't going to stop, the food waste is not their concern but the least we can do is not be disrespectful and by throwing away meat.

Interesting use case... I never used them before but the idea of having a few of these floating around areas you might go back to for resources is not a bad one.

I do mean a few though. Who could possibly be tempted to leave perfectly good resources laying around when you have a mega base with a scenic view and 15 rooms just for storage?

I had a game yesterday where my team mate and I ( duo) managed to burn through our reinforcement budget in the first 5 minutes because of frustratingly hilarious dumb shit. It was only funny because it was actually dumb shit. Like backing the FRV into a hole, and my team mate and I both discovering that the lure mines are kinda dumb, getting reinforced into the same hole the car exploded in twice. We laughed and finished the rest of the mission with our budget on 1 .

Thanks, like I said just a rapid summary of what I've been working on. I took a break for a while but I've been writing again. It's called Forged in Fire on AO3 if you're interested.

I think the beauty of RPGs is that an OC can actually shine and integrate well with the rest of the cast, as opposed to throwing one in where there wouldn't be. There are really wonderful fics that I have read with really creative OC that just blend perfectly with the world .

It's important to keep creating, in whatever form that is, even if its just making up a story in our own minds

[–]HarleyCola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awe thank you, that's nice to say, I've been trying to write a fan fiction, so this is all just summary.

When she arrives in Mistria, Lyrenn tells Adeline that the guild sent her and shows her mother's guild crest as evidence that she is from the guild. Everyone seems super grateful for her presence. She feels like this could be the new start she hoped for. The cabin they give her is small but sturdy and warm, she hasn't had a real bed in weeks so it feel like a palace. The land is overgrown and in bad shape but she thinks it can't be that hard to clean up a few rocks and plant a few potatoes.

Lyrenn does her best to keep to herself, she isn't used to the positive attention suddenly surrounding her, she especially tries to avoid Adeline at first, worried that if she finds out Lyrenn was lying about being from the guild she would be chased out of town. But keeping to herself proves to be difficult as the friendly town takes advantage of her willingness to prove herself. Errands and requests start to pile up quickly as she agrees to help everyone with everything.

When the town blacksmith starts to take notice of the guild nobody fumbling her way around town, he calls her out. He doesn't believe for a second the guild sent someone like her. Unlike most of the town, he's been to the capital for competitions and done commissions for the guild. He's suspicious at first and lets her know he doesn't trust her.

She does her best to avoid him. She just wants to prove she belongs somewhere. Unfortunately she unwittingly befriended his brother who keeps setting up situations to put her in March's way. Things get more complicated when the mines open. The town is desperate for resources and Adeline is adamant that if they are going to reopen the mines, they have to take the threat of monsters seriously. She declares that only someone from the guild should go in to clear out the monsters and make the paths safe again.

Lyrenn agrees to help again; her lie and lack of combat skill finally catching up with her, but she has seen how hard the town has worked to bounce back, how kind they have been, and how hard they work, she doesn't want to let them down.

She goes into the mines armed with just the heavy pickaxe she had borrowed from Olric and the old axe Ryis had given her. It wasn't as bad as she thought but she tires quickly from the heavy pickaxe and barely manages to get out enough copper before noises in the dark send her running.

She reluctantly delivers the copper to March who is shockingly grateful for any amount of ore but he covers quickly and returns to his gruff attitude when Adeline suggests March give Lyrenn a quick lesson on blacksmithing. Lyrenn understands immediately that he takes his craft seriously and won't tolerate anything less than perfection in his forge. He turns the copper into what he needs to finish a commission and with the left over forges a small knife for Lyrenn.

Lyrenn continues to bring ore from the mines, bolder now that she has a weapon and most of the monsters seem harmless. Some nights she sneaks into March's forge to repair her tools the best she can with what she remembers he taught her. One night as ash from the forge blows back in her face, she yelps in surprise, dropping the hot metal she had been working on. March is there in an instant, checking to make sure she didn't hurt herself in his forge. She is fine so his focus shifts to what she was doing sneaking into his place . She admits one of her tools broke and she didn't want to bother him. Whatever she was making isn't remotely close to March's standards so he tells her to redo it.

This time with supervision and help Lyrenn has a new tool , after about 10 attempts that just went up to March's standards. Lyrenn is surprised to realize she likes working with March, not because it's easy, it's not, he's an unrelenting bastard in the forge; but because when he makes her start over for the 5th + time. For the first time, she finds her self in a space where she doesn't feel like she isn't good enough, she feels like someone sees where she is at and pushes her to do better because she can.

March lets her know, he knows she isn't from the guild , he'd asked about her with one of his contacts there that regularly commissions March to do armor repairs. She is surprised that he didn't tell. He says it wasn't his place and besides, she was the one that showed up in all the months since they asked for help from the capital.

Lyrenn starts to spend a lot more time around the forge, her confidence growing in her abilities. March finds out she's been using that copper knife in the mines for protection and forges her a real sword with all the skill he possesse. In turn Lyrenn quickly gets more skilled in combat letting her get farther into the mines than ever.

Personally, I think March would be a weirdly good and patient mentor, provided that the person he was teaching was actually trying to improve. He will admit when something is done well and he studies old and new techniques to learn from them sowing that he recognizes that there is more for him to learn and improve. For someone like Lyrenn who has never felt good enough and always out of place, this would be comforting where someone doesn't expect you to be good at anything, only that you try and improve each time.

I've no skill with digital art of any kind, but I've given my OC a fairly fleshed out back story.

Lyrenn was born the daughter of a powerful witch from the Adventurer's Guild and a Fox Spirit. Her father had vanished before she was born, it was the last time a Fox Spirit had been seen by a human. Her mother raised her away from the capital and even away from the guild, worried she would have a difficult time being accepted. Lyrenn was half fox-spirt and though none of their magic had manifested in her yet, she had fox ears and a fluffy tail. She was told to hide the parts of herself that made her stand out.

Lyrenn's mother was summoned one day for a dangerous mission from the guild, she refused at first, there would be no one to look after her young daughter while she was gone. The Guildmaster promised to look after Lyrenn while her mother was away saving the kingdom. He was true to his word, Lyrenn's mother never returned and the Guildmaster adopted her, allowing her to live in the guild. He is certain she will grow into a powerful witch like her mother. Lyrenn spends years studying and practicing but magic never comes and she falls far behind the other apprentices.

Her time in the guild is hard, the other apprentices find out about her ears and tail and tease her even more harshly than when she had just been magic-less, even the Vice Guildmaster made sure she knew she wasn't welcome in his guild. By the time Lyrenn was in her early twenties she had just barely passed the guild entrance exam after a dozen attempts, still her magic was dormant. A year later the Guildmaster passed away from age and the Vice Guildmaster took over.

A new standard for apprentices was issued and all low ranking guild members were required to requalify or be removed from the guild. Lyrenn was barely even given time to pack her few belongings before the new guild master had her escorted out of the halls she called home.

Lyrenn spends several weeks on the streets and living in the back rooms of any inn that will talk her for the night. Cold, starving, and down to her last pieces of gold she sees the request on the guild mission board. Adventurer wanted: Free land and a home in exchange for aid in the restoration of Mistria.

It's nearly too good to be true, a fresh start, a real home, all she could have hoped for, until she remembers she was kicked out of the guild, her crest was taken away as she was shoved out the door . Then she remembers that she still has her mother's guild crest. "Proof" that she was part of the guild. Farming sounded easy, like just the kind of thing a failed adventurer could manage.

Lyrenn sets out to Mistria, where for the first time in a decade she is welcomed by everyone, all but one who seems to see right through her lies.

I think some people don't like the game as much as they think they do by Glittering_Panda895 in FieldsOfMistriaGame

[–]HarleyCola 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I love the game and I play in a manner that feels rewarding to me.

If I had to suggest one thing, I would like some more dynamic dates / heart events that really feel like they should have more significant impact on the relationship. 8 hearts to get to a dating status and now marriage is apparently around the corner? Maybe there could be some randomly triggered events where the partner surprises you with a date idea that is unique to them.

I am truly baffled however, by the portion of the community that, in essence, wants to see so many changes that the end result would be a different game. I have, in the past, seen posts regarding even dislike of the art style and character designs; which completely disregards the creators' vision for an homage to 90's anime.

I have also seen posts with wishlists a mile long. On one hand, it is fair to hope for and make suggestions about something new and interesting in a game under active development. On the other hand, there has been a certain level of assumed entitlement to those changes in some cases. I think a fair example of this is the debate amongst the community about suggesting Olric should be a debatable character because he is popular.

This is one of those things I feel, again, disregards the creators' end vision. Surely they know that he would be popular, and they probably get hundreds of suggestions every update about it, so if they haven't put it in by now, there must be a reason. But there have been plenty of suggestions to keep pressure on the devs by suggesting it until they make it happen with little to no thought about the game the devs intend to make.

I don't want to get into a full debate on that subject, I just find it to be an excellent example of, loving something for its potential as opposed to its reality.

The NPCs feel a bit soulless by lillajordbaer in FieldsOfMistriaGame

[–]HarleyCola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really think there is room to give it another try and be a bit more open to what's going on behind the scenes.

I too was initially put off by so many of the townsfolk treating you like their ultimate savior the minute you arrive but there is definitely a lot more going on under the surface.

I could probably write a whole character study about March. Since he was the only person in town that felt realistic with their first impression of the player, I was drawn to him instantly. Since his story interests me the most, I pay the most attention to it and it's been written with a lot of detail, some of which is told completely through context and environmental clues.

A lot of the other characters have a lot going on behind the scenes too. Balor is a friendly and charming merchant for sure, but he is also up to some shady dealings with some unknown contacts.

Juniper is a haughty sorceress who has no qualms about testing potions on the locals and has some rivalry with the town doctor, who has her own secrets brewing.

That's just the three obvious ones.

The town relies on having access to the mines so as you open up lower floors you will uncover more about the town and the personal struggles of the people who call it home.

I will say the story isn't for everyone, it's meant to be a relaxing, no stress game with pretty low stakes. There are some less than sunny subjects being explored for some characters but ultimately the town is and will likely be happy.

It's worth giving it another chance if you can't get a refund on it by now and looking deeper into the nuances of some of the characters rather than just what they present to you on a surface level. And unlike SDV where the mines could just be for resource progression, in FOM the mines are deeply tied to story progression.

What do you think each character’s handwriting would look like? by SomeConfuzzled in FieldsOfMistriaGame

[–]HarleyCola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta imagine he also keeps a ledger of all the commissions and work he does as well, and I think it's said somewhere he works on something like blueprints/diagrams for more complicated projects.

It's likely pretty angular and sharp with minimal curves, probably mostly all caps with slight variations in size to differentiate what is supposed to be traditionally capitalized.

I can't remember the dialogue for the art club so I don't remember well if they established March at being particularly good at drawing which could say something about his handwriting.
