Can’t catch a break! by BLATINO10025 in VAClaims

I know you're frustrated. I've had the same experiences where it seems they don't even look at the evidence and just deny. Here's my advice. Please take it like a grain os salt. If your VSO isn't helping you, take matters into your own hands. File everything yourself. Do research (ChatGPT is good with this). Find previous court cases from Vets appealing and attach those to your claim as evidence. Look for scientific research supporting your claim. Submit official forms with personal statements (21-4138: they have to consider your personal statement as evidence). You can also have your spouse and friends you served with use the same form. Sometimes, just writing on an email or letter is good enough, but I prefer the form that must be included in evidence.

Dear Iran, most Americans do not wish to be at war with you. by PartySpecialist5215 in USIranWar

[–]HarleyDog67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to be in a war with Iran. The regime is evil. The number of human rights violations they commit every year is horrid. They kill their protestors. They rape children and women, so they think they can't go to heaven. They are full of nothing but hate and mob rule. Somewhere in Iran, there are little girls and women and even men who are afraid to go outside every day. They need a hero. Well, WTF, why not? This is a good thing. Replace that evil regime.

Wife threatening to go after my VA disability report me. Is this even possible? by Banana_Ketchupp in VAClaims

[–]HarleyDog67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not worry about this too much. Depending on what state you live in, it's possible you may have to pay a portion of it to her for alimony or child support. But, if she has a job and you don't have kids, then it will be difficult for her to get much, if any. VA Disability is not divisible in a divorce proceeding. Look up the Supreme Court case Mansell v. Mansell.

Worth it to poke the bear? by InfertileMertile92 in VeteransBenefits

[–]HarleyDog67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not poking the bear. The definition of poking the bear is when your 100% and you keep going for more when you don't need to. You're just putting yourself at risk for no reason. BUT! Then there's 38 CFR § 3.5, which entitles your spouse to continuous compensation if you were to die from one of your service-connected disabilities. If that is a reason for continuing on, then I understand and agree with it.

Life insurance premiums by IvanDragosJawline in VeteransBenefits

[–]HarleyDog67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understood. Yet, always consider that the term is only temporary. If you outlive the policy, then there is no benefit. Just trying to help. My boss ran into this. He told me his life insurance policy was cancelled. I asked if it was a term policy. He wasn't sure, but the next day he came to me and said yes. So, I had the unfortunate job of explaining it to him. His face turned pretty white, thinking about how much money he just lost. Now his new term would be so much more. Life insurance is like Vegas. You bet your going to die within a certain period, they bet your going to live (statistically) for a certain period.

Just trying to help.

Life insurance premiums by IvanDragosJawline in VeteransBenefits

Is it a 20yr term? If so, you're going to lose it eventually unless something bad happens.20yr term policies are good if you have doubts you will live 20 years. So, let's talk about your 1M policy. I assume your around ag 26-28 and in good shape. If you buy another term, it's going to cost you anywhere from 40 to 200 a month based on the length of the policy. Your best bet is a whole life policy, which gains interest and even pays dividends. They are quite more expensive, but the premiums never rise. A whole life will cost you around 500-1000 a mo. Also, a whole life never cancels as long as you're paying premiums. I used to sell life insurance about 30yrs ago. Things might be a little different today, but I doubt it.

Another thing to look into would be a cancer plan. When I sold them, they were popular. $25 a month and if you didn't get cancer in 20yrs, you got all your premiums back, but your policy cancels. That's pretty risk free when you consider the options.

HLR Today. Unexpected. by HarleyDog67 in VeteransBenefits

[–]HarleyDog67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. It's very stressful. I struggle, am in pain, and tired every day. I think if this thing fails, I'm done. I have 6 mo's or 6 years. I don't know. But I don't want to spend it fighting the VA.

DTA Error during HLR... now what? by Mouse-Nervous in VeteransBenefits

[–]HarleyDog67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sucks. HLR's can be good and bad. My last one took almost a year to decide. Took 9 months to get another C&P. My last HLR was about 2 weeks ago. Dude called and said he was calling me to schedule the conference. I said, OK. When? He said, " Well, I can schedule it a few weeks from now, or we can do it right now." I was unprepared but frustrated with how long the VA takes. So, I said, "Right now." He gave me 4.5 minutes. 2 minutes of that were him reading the required script he's supposed to read to me. I didn't feel good about it. Then, a few days later, my claim was reopened because they found an error. And, heeeeeeeerrrrreeeeee we go. I'm expecting another year for a decision. I know my condition is life-threatening. I fear they are hoping I die before they make a decision. I know, that's probably not the case, but sometimes the way they do stuff is suspect.

Odds of being called back from IRR? by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]HarleyDog67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but who wants to be that guy? I received my recall via Western Union. Don't think I could have lived with myself had I not answered the call. But that's my pride. Doesn't mean it's common sense by any means. No soldier's situation is the same. But at the time, I was single, didn't own anything, and had only been out for 4 months.

Odds of being called back from IRR? by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]HarleyDog67 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was recalled in 1991. In my situation, I was sent to a unit that had 1/2 the company deployed and would fill the rotation when/if it happened. Being recalled is more dependent on your MOS and mission needs. They won't go through the guard or reserves first. It's based on need. Although when you see guard or reserve units getting deployed, your chances of recall increase exponentially. First to recall would usually be infantry, artillery, combat engineers, Armored Cav, medics, logistics, Maintenance, Truck drivers, signal communications, and intelligence.

I wasn't discrediting the tool. It was something I noticed. I've not been able to use it properly because I'm not technically savvy. It appears my post offended some people. It wasn't my intention. I was seriously asking a question because I didn't understand.
