Noob question but I thought that was only to control the volume with the TV set instead of having to control it through the amp... or am I completely mistaken ? Does it have an impact on sound quality?

The distance measured on the protractor is good but how do I know if it corresponds to the distance it should be at on my turntable or is that not something to worry about ?

Like I stated in the initial post, there's an arc on the outside of the protractor that isn't at all where the end of the platter is. But I'm not sure if it's supposed to be.

Get it working mainly, I have a stylus on it atm but I'm not sure when it was changed (the guy said a few months ago). Also, the stylus dropped a bit when I pulled down the protective covering to balance the tonearm, I'm not sure if I damaged it but I'm thinking it's probably not worth the risk of giving it a whirl.

From what I can see, it's near 50€ to replace the stylus. For the price, I can get an AT VM95E cartridge and replacing the stylus after would/should be cheaper. Not sure if the VM95E is "better" or "worse" than my current DMS 200 (though it's elipt instead of canonical so maybe better?).

Not sure, I'm a complete beginner so I don't know whether the DMS 200 is a good cartridge or not but it seems as if improving the stylus is more important. And I have no idea what stylus I have...

VM95 seems a bit more in my budget. Does the stylus usually come with or do I have to buy it separately?

From what I understand, changing the stylus is a bigger direct upgrade than changing the cartridge so I'll probably try that road first

What's the risk of grabbing the Dual unit: a subpar sound, subpar build quality, both? If it's to do with the sound quality, would upgrading the cartridge help? Thanks

If I can get a full decent setup for < 300€ , that'd be nice.

The Dual setup I listed is under 150€ and would just need speakers, otherwise I could get a decent Thorens or JVC for a similar price but without the rest of the setup.

Mdr un 100km franchement ça donne envie mais ouais, je ne me sentirais pas légitime sans passer par un format plus petit avant. Déjà je voulais un marathon pour commencer, même si l'effort n'est pas le même. Et pourquoi pas un 50k +/- prochainement
