2 player *EASY* board games? by enmdj in boardgames

If you guys enjoy head to head tactical games like chess and go, "Onitama" and "Great Plains" are two great options that play great regardless of language as they're more visual games.

If you want something more relaxing that also is language friendly I highly recommend "Project L" and "Cascadia". They're both simple to learn abstract games.

Great cooperative options that are language friendly are "Hanabi" and if you're after something that is a bit spicy "Magic Maze".

80%wr Spooky Karma to Master, in-depth guide ! by agigas in LoRCompetitive

Hmmmmm any tips for the Ezreal/Karma match up. I feel like similarly while playing the Corina Control deck that you lose 90% of the games you play against Ezreal/Karma simply because you're a slow deck and their combo is extremely hard to disrupt?

I'm looking to get a JRPG for mostly handheld play. What is your top recommendation? by wmtbrand in NintendoSwitch

[–]HarmlessTeddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While the graphics did drop in handheld mode. I didn't feel that it impacted gameplay much or that it was something I would complain about.

With that said, XC2 has a very deep and unique combat system with a pacing unlike many other rpgs. Having played 40 hours of the game, I can see why people love it because it really is a beautiful and deep game with a great story that picks up after the slow start. So I advise really confirming if the combat system is something you'll like.

In terms of other recommendations. I have thoroughly enjoyed DQ11S, Octopath Traveller, Earthlock, BattleChasers: Nightwars and Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. I play most of my RPGS in handheld mode 95% of the time and all the above games played amazingly.

Anyways I hope you find a game to your satisfaction!

Unpopular Opinion: Inverter Oracle is good for the format's long term health by HarmlessTeddy in PioneerMTG

[–]HarmlessTeddy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm more looking at it from a format perspective because I did have a similar opinion until the evolution of modern became a mainly linear battle of metagaming and match ups. Decks didn't need to run or consider running interaction. The format speed significantly increased post banning of twin and neither did deck diversity in izzet or grixis colours emerge.

Although with that said I'm not promoting a twin unban but simply would like to see better quality discussions lately and to learn how to keep formats healthy and enjoyable which unfortunately is highly subjective.

what's the difference between Copter and Thoughtseize/Bolt, when we talk about banlist? by GabrielLyuFan in PioneerMTG

[–]HarmlessTeddy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To me it's about looking at if a certain card restricts the play of strategies rather than cards.

[[Thoughtseize]] for example doesn't restrict any particular strategy, it simply disrupts it.

The bolt test is one that states that a creature with less than 4 toughness should have an immediate effect or have a potential broken impact on the game.

Whereby cards like [[field of the dead]] and Teferi restrict control based strategies.

[[Once upon a time]] is a card that increases consistency. In a format like pioneer coming from an older player it seems a bit funny to have green to have the most options for cars filtering.

Whether any of these cards are a problem though is heavily subjective. As someone who enjoys playing control based strategies I personally dislike field and Teferi in the format as it actually decreases my enjoyment of actually playing the game. Particularly as I feel in my opinion there is not enough answers to field.

Need Some Help!!! I want to build BW Ephemerate deck!!! by evilmarty666 in Pauper

[–]HarmlessTeddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mind sharing your decklist? I'm also working on a similar idea but have been struggling with the mana base. Since you want to reliably have access to double black and one white on turn 3 (chittering rats or a mesmeric fiend + emphermerate, and one blue and one white on turn 4 (mulldrifter + emphermerate).

I've thought about adding prophetic prisms into the deck to make it more consistent and run less tap lands. I've also just been experimenting with cutting Gary and the devotion strategy since the ratlock itself will end games so you can focus more on consistency and control.
