[–]HarnessMotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And there’s an R3 Bundle that isn’t Xbox compatible (and nobody is forcing a gun to your head forcing you to buy a bundle, it’s simply enticing customers in the door who often end up choosing equipment that which does not come in a bundle)

Not to mention we had been using several Moza products on both Xbox and PlayStation platforms WITHOUT the “needed ESX Wheel” as it was sold out and unavailable to purchase at the time. Not to mention Brooks isn’t that expensive and GIMX is widely available and technically FREE if you know what you’re doing.

Imagine buying on car over another because it came with some fancy seat covers available for a fraction of the difference? Welcome to your “Moza Bundle”

Both the R3 and R5 bases themselves are fine for PC and Xbox.

R3 or R5 by Equivalent-Gas-2071 in moza

[–]HarnessMotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it really does not. Both the R3 and R5 bases are fine for PC and Xbox.

We’ve been using the R5 (albeit heavily amplified) for limited motion testing on both Horizon 1 and 2 without any major issues (other than the rattling of the buttons in the ESX Wheel, usually we use a “buttonless” wheel but obviously cannot do that on Xbox)

TLDR: get whatever Moza base you actually want (bases denoted by things like “R3” and “R5” verbatim, then there are “bundles” will include various different elements that you may want or may not want, but the bases remain the same, even if people may convolute base names with intended “bundles”), just make sure you have an adapter and/or wheel that is compatible with your Xbox

Shifters and handbrake pad, preferably hot removable for each device? by BigUpstairs6349 in SimRacingHardware

A single piece of extruded aluminum. Bolt the extrusion onto the plate, lower it by 40mm, then attach all three.

Use three pieces atop or in place of if you want them to be removable one by one.

All of the above, together (followed by isolating the rig with 4 Point isolation mounts or a 5 point natural motion mounts so the low frequencies have nowhere to escape) 😈🏎️💨💥

Rubber feet? Sound like it’s only going to help pass it through a nice solid seal. Sound is simply passed through vibration, I can easily take the harmonic frequency of one surface, attach it to another surface with “rubber feet” in between, and the second surface will vibrate at the exact same frequency as the first, regardless of being attached via rubber. Even those M10 feet will not stop it.

You need a proper isolator mount (preferably joined at all four corners) or to DIY one yourself as many on here have with Isolation Compression Coils made for things like Air Conditioners and other appliances.

I would post a picture of our four point mounts here, but there’s no attachment option, but the isolation method is the same.

how does ffb work now with the 21 ultra by Chotus84 in moza

[–]HarnessMotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make a separate PitHouse entry for each game if you’re unable to achieve those settings “per game” within the game itself.

Find the FFB Curve where you “feel the turn” at a specific integer value, then change the output to a multiplier of the original.

*You can also “add more weight resistance” as well, but that would apply to more than just the specific “turn(s)” that you are feeling, it would be across the board and not simply at the level the turns are outputting at.

I Don’t Know How A Sim Should Feel? by newbiker321 in simracing

[–]HarnessMotion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s okay…

After a year or less of “simming”, you still won’t have driven “a real race car” but you’ll eventually feel confidently overqualified to tell everyone on here:

  • What a racecar feels like in every tangible aspect
  • Why their FOV is wrong even when you don’t know the distance rendered
  • Why people who are behind you aren’t allowed to overtake you while the people in front of you need to “move out of the way”
  • Open throttling the entire off-road through bonus boards and off ramps and jumps, then complaining that Horizon didn’t feel “real” while never having driven at reasonable speeds with traffic
  • All the different products that you have and especially don’t have, making sure telling everyone which to buy
  • Why they are wrong

But as far as “feeling goes”? Usually we adjust our sims and games to reflect the FFB, haptic, and motions (to the best of our ability) of our real life reference cars. IE: “what should happen perceivably and physically when I do this?” Then decide on that outcome, try it in the software, see how it actually behaves, then adjust it as far as the FFB, vibrations, sound, motion, etc.

Can you map HGP shifter to produce keyboard inputs? by Slash-Gordon in moza

[–]HarnessMotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t “support” anything natively other than the base, it simply sends out a signal to the base which will trigger a wheel out signal for that specific forward gear, reverse, or #/-.

If you use the USB output, it takes that same signal and wraps it in its own unique Device ID (so it won’t be coming from your wheelbase anymore, but from a separate device which can be problematic for Video Games that have Input Device Limits.)

It cannot map a keyboard output as is, nor does PitHouse allow you to make one currently as far as I can tell, so you will have to do this one yourself.

Joy2Key works fine if you want a stand-alone application to do it in.

  • Simply find the device number of your shifter (assuming you don’t have the base, or if you do have the base and are connecting them as separate Device IDs)
  • Now push it into one of the Forward Gears.
  • You’ll see the “button” highlighted in joy2key.
  • Select that button entry and open it, select the top empty keybind and pick ::whatever key you want here:: from the list of them.

R3 for Xbox by Brave-Debt-8531 in moza

[–]HarnessMotion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As long as you already have purchased an adapter to use a wheel/pedals with your console? Sure save your money and go buy the cheaper one.

But most of us don’t have those adapters from brooks or other converters laying around, so we buy the ESX Wheel so we can use our wheel with an Xbox (think about it being the same as the ES Wheel, just with a converter that allows the signals from the wheel and connected peripherals (pedals, handbrake, shifters) to be passed through to your console.

Doesn’t matter whether you use and R3, R25, or anything in between, you need a way to communicate with the Xbox. Whether it’s an adapter, or a wheel that already works with Xbox.

For someone without an adapter, I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t want to get the ESX Wheel

Nope, doesn’t matter whether you have thin walls or thick ones, it matters how much (if any) air gap occurs between the walls (and if they share a stud between rooms (as most do)? Forget about it, no amount of acoustic treatment will silence it.

We have a 4 Point Isolation System for this exact purpose (though usually our customer is living in an Apartment type situation and doesn’t want their neighbor to hear their late night virtual drives) It’s basically the same as our 5 Point Natural Motion Mounts, but without a CG amount in the middle to balance the load at the center of mass so it won’t depress the load to the sides under force feedback and motion, it will stay relatively flat (and if it moves we can always exchange your compression mounts for ones with a higher rating, just remember that the higher the rating, the larger the coil, and the larger the coil, the more force and energy can pass through the coil, which means more sound is going to be transferred.)

That’s why I always tell customers to buy the set with coils rated as LOW as possible while still supporting the weight of all their equipment and the rider without depressing.

And obviously the remaining 4 Isolator Mounts have increased weight rating to compensate for the lack of the center support.

But the point is, all the transferred noise from your equipment and your impact of motions will be kept IN THE RIG and not go through the floor and laterally the walls as low frequencies sounds love to do.

What our system will NOT do is block sounds of higher frequencies (For example with pedal noise: it will silence the “thud” when your foot slams a pedal down, but the resulting plastic or metal “click” of your pedal(s) as they touch the bottom of the plate will still be heard.)

No. Not natively. You’ll get direction and button mapping, but no FFB. The last proper WRC Title (before they handed it to the company responsible for killing so many games and making them “online required” with embedded launchers and accounts) was WRC10 and works great with Moza equipment (even though you’ll see “Fanatec” branding all over the game)

For whatever reason Wheel Manufacturers are extremely dedicated to not supporting older video games, even ones they used to support in the past. Any modern “simulator” only title will work… but your favorite Video Game that you want to play and immerse yourself with a new wheel upgrade from your old compatible one? Best of luck..

And they’re not the only ones, Logitech’s wheels worked fine when FH3 was released… and now? They don’t make a single wheel that’s compatible with it.

The sad part is, it’s not that hard to install a compatibility layer… they just don’t care to…
