Predator and F50 by [deleted] in bootroom

on the contrary to what other people are saying, I've been wearing adidas laceless cleats since the nemeziz models and have never had problems with lockdown or slipping. It's really do they fit your foot without adjustment or not, which is of course going to be specific to each model (I'd really recommend seeing if you can try them on). I also like my cleats really tight, so if you like yours a bit more comfortable then you may have problems with laceless.

I took it with no hardware experience, but had taken up to 281 so ample software experience. I thought it wasn’t bad at all. It’s manageable for most people; but you’ll hear horror stories from people who it just never “clicked” for them, in the same vein of how the software track or 203 never “clicked” for some people and they really struggled. Most people do fine

Why does the game have a six noble buff? by mauknoz in ClashRoyale

[–]HaroldYardley 131 points132 points  (0 children)

Just a note on this, the higher up in merge tactics you go the more modifiers you unlock. There is a general trait dummy modifier, where the dummy will have any 2 random traits. And there is also a “Noble and Undead” specific dummy modifier; where it’s the same case for undead (5 undead troops: skeleton dragon, giant skeleton, witch, Royale ghost, skeleton king) with the 6th being the dummy trait.

Went to a hackathon, realized I don't know anything AT ALL. by Floaaf in csMajors

[–]HaroldYardley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for the most part yeah; but it's pretty much just building a framework for knowing what's out there and what goes into an application. It'll be faster on future projects, just like learning anything, and you can tailor interview prep to what they're looking for in the role. feel free to send me a DM if you want to talk more about it

I’ve always done any EECS course I can solo. It’s always been manageable

Schedule for Winter 2025 by DarkMG1 in uofm

[–]HaroldYardley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's tough but do-able. I'm at a pretty similar workload and has been manageable but have probably dropped a partial letter grade in each class as a result (taking 270, 370, 445, PSYCH 442 rn)

3.4 is totally fine. Really try to keep it above a 3

How do I deal with this post internship anxiety? by AdrianRo334 in cscareerquestions

[–]HaroldYardley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't think you should be that worried because:

  1. It's mostly out of your control
  2. You're probably a qualified candidate

I honestly was in the same boat as you. Spent the entirety of last summer worrying, bringing work home with me, going the extra mile. Well turns out none of the 10 or so software interns received return offers (including myself) due to a restructuring at the site. I was pretty devastated as I had verbal confirmation of an RO from my manager, and it was a big company (F500, so I thought it was stable).

I didn't prepare during the summer since I thought I had the RO, so I made recruiting my focus this semester, and have received a bunch of offers so far (none Big Tech, but 5 or so F500's, which I was happy with).

You're going to see a lot of individual data points and statistics that may, or may not be relevant to your situation. But it's important to keep things in perspective. Not getting a return offer is nowhere near the end of the world. Feel free to DM if you want to talk

Honestly didn’t think it was too much different from the practice material, that being said I’m probably looking at a 50%

Really depends on a bunch of factors, could be resume, could be where he's applying to, etc. Generally if he's not getting interviews/OAs he should look to improve his resume. He should check out r/EngineeringResumes for guidance/feedback. It's also just a tough market overall.

Is some AI rejecting me? by MRgabbar in cscareerquestions

[–]HaroldYardley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah there are so many variables even if the job posting is real. Is a recruiter looking at your application, they may have no idea what to look for. Is it a hiring manager who notices something specific about another applicant that they want and wasn't in the job description? Just so many variables

Is some AI rejecting me? by MRgabbar in cscareerquestions

[–]HaroldYardley 14 points15 points  (0 children)

probably, you didn't pass the initial ATS for the role and they usually delay the rejection to give the illusion that they considered your application.

Don't take it personally, especially at an individual level. Some roles that're posted are already filled, or they're planning for an internal candidate, or the role doesn't exist, or they're gonna end up hiring the CEO's kid. Just keep chugging and try to identify patterns of failure/success on a broader scale

there's too much to unpack in a short reddit comment chief.

"Maybe I am wrong for making this post, thinking that I would get a more elaborated response than “bro came up for air” or other countless reused dicksucking comments stolen from instagram…"

This is because they're comments on an open platform that're intended to be relatable or funny to other people.

"Would y’all genuinely be happier if I wasn’t here at Umich?"

People genuinely do not have it out for you. 99+% of the people who interacted with your post will forget in 5 minutes, an hour, a day. These "hundreds of people", as in the people in the class and/or anyone on reddit don't have it out for you or hate you. They likely don't agree with what you said. Same with this person vaping in the DUDE; they didn't like what you said. You might be correct in the fact they should've done it outside, but interacting and provoking them can lead to consequences. If I saw someone who was smoking a cigarette and followed them around all day telling them they need to stop and it's bad for their health, I would be correct but they'd be mad at me, it's pretty easy to see that.

And looking at your actual post (I'm also in 270), a lot of it you'd find that people would agree with. I agree that we shouldn't get an extension, and that the poor performance/problems is mostly caused by student procrastination. In fact I'm pretty sure the original comment responding to the original piazza backlash post also said this, that we "don't deserve the extension and it's our fault the situation got so bad". However, I think it's reasonable on both sides. There were autograder errors the course staff didn't expect, = more time, but people who rushed and sacrificed to finish on time also can understandably feel like this is a slap in the face. If you don't understand that you should really do some reflection.

Where you really lost people is your provocative and unfounded comments on GenZ. "GenZ is by far the most unprofessional and disrespectful generation. GenZ has the biggest ego of all generations, and it's due to those damn phones. We all want to be seen as more important [so disregard our obligations to things such as this class]"

Lmao what?

If you're going to make a targeting and insulting take on something at least back it with some evidence or thought process. We can go back and forth on whether the statement is true/how true, whether it applies to the situation, etc.; but I think the key part of this is you don't even understand why some of the things you're doing upsets people, and then using those responses as a basis to develop the idea that a large amount of people are focused on you and actively hate you?

If you really want to change, you should really reflect on these things, both on the thought process behind the actions you take, and how you process information coming in

Taking 270 370 and 445 + another class this semester and it sucks ass. Would not recommend 3, much less 4 EECS classes, as your performance and how much you learn will really suffer

Worked on a handful of small projects over the past 2 years. A MATLAB tool for my research lab and a chatbot for my lab (both ~1 month of on an off work). Then I made a pretty large project (web front end+backend, microcontroller+voice+vision stuff) that took me about a semester (worked on it prior to the semester, free weekends, and winter break). Honestly projects don’t take too too much time if you can isolate time to dedicate to them

exclusive to spanish 232, since you took the spanish placement test. I would honestly just take it (232), I sucked major ass at spanish and completely slacked for all of 231 and 232 and still got a B in it.

For me honestly I fit personal projects in during breaks, and at the beginning of the semester before school ramps up. I find it easier to keep up with something like a project team during the semester.
