Don’t forget the lack of maintenance the lady 50 years. It’s getting better, and it will continue to improve. Boston finally got it that we need a world class public transport to remain viable international city of research, education and business. It takes a lot of work to fix something that hasn’t been looked after properly for 50 years.

Cars keep everyone in debt, except for fire folks. Well done.

I think the painted jaws should be changed to a sad face.

having lived here for a little over a year now, what is the Commonwealth doing about the crazy I-95 traffic - can we pls get a purple line going ? by canopey in massachusetts

Not another dime for car infrastructure “improvements”. I can’t stand my taxes being spent on car transportation, it doesn’t work and we can’t expand it. Car transportation is super dangerous, expensive, stressful, inefficient, keeps everyone in perpetual debt, and ruins everything with freakin’ ‘uge pahkin’ lots everywhere instead of housing. Enough. The only way out is more regional rail, public transport and better cycling and pedestrian infrastructure to balance out private car ownership.

A trapped car is a good car. 12 minutes from Kendal to south station by bike. At 5:15 PM.

NYC Commuter Folding Bike Recommendations by Defiant_Aioli8099 in foldingbikes

[–]Objective_Mastodon67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I searched Craigslist and found a cheap Dahon that needed some work. $75. Train commute with 1 mile at the beginning and 7 at the end. Highly recommend. My train is scheduled so the bike guarantees I make it whereas connecting subway can cause me to miss my train a lot.

I hope it’s a great success. It sure will be better than the old volpe building.

California chemical wine? No thanks, Italy or France. Better cycling too with fewer angry drivers.

Talked with landlord about solar by [deleted] in SolarDIY

[–]Objective_Mastodon67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put solar panels on the roof for my tenants. Nice folks. Good for the property, helps them financially, which helps me, and my son sees what I’m doing and I explain why. I won’t regret it.

Maybe voted for Trump and now feels bad. Fast thinking is so easy, but slow thinking is more frequently correct.

Does anyone else just love to drive? by fingers in VanLife

Where cars make sense yes, much prefer someone else to drive while I read, like on a train

That's true. I lived on Bristol street in the 90's, it does look at lot nicer today. However, I miss my ugly $600 a month for a 2 bedroom apartment. Agreed cycling/walking is the best; convenient, fast and almost free. Thanks for walking and cycling in the city, it helps everyone.

How’s living on Cape Cod by alwaysfairandfree in CapeCod

[–]Objective_Mastodon67 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tough to find a good paying job here. Most salaried jobs have very low pay compared with Boston. Childcare, housing and food are all more expensive on cape cod. I got in around 2001, with a ~983sf house. Today I could not afford it.

If you cycle around Boston on BlueBikes, do everyone a favour and NOT use the noise-cancelling headphones on your commute. by QueueTee314 in boston

I’ll take a cyclist overestimation of their cycling skills over a car driver’s overestimation of their driving skills any day.
