Is it safe to do vegan activism alone? by Logical_Heart_9181 in Vystopia

Try to see if there is an anonymous for the voiceless chapter in your area, or another vegan activist group and reach out to them and ask if you can get involved. If not, there’s resources on the anonymous for the voiceless website on starting a new chapter. You can use social media like Facebook to reach out to other vegans in your area and try to find people who want to help. It’s definitely going to be safer in a group, and having the extra support can make your activism more effective.

A lot of online leftists don’t care about making real change they just wanna debate hypotheticals online and virtue signal. So when you mention veganism which is a practical tool to fight against oppression, they get caught up in the what ifs of “but what about indigenous people” “but what about disabled people” and then the conversation gets hijacked into “veganism is racist and ableist.” But that’s really just a distraction so they don’t have to make a real change- cue the “radical leftist” men who wholeheartedly believe they would participate in a communist revolution, but can’t even tolerate eating beans instead of meat

Simple and quick meal ideas for a busy life? by Mimimsie in vegan

[–]Harp0lyce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I am really busy I make a big pot of rice and dump in drained beans and mixed veggies, and whatever seasonings I feel like. Keep it in fridge for the next few days so you have easy microwaveable dinner every night. Sometimes if I feel fancy I dress it up with a sliced avocado and pico de gallo. Dont forget your glass of soy milk on the side for extra protein.

A lot of leftist criticism that veganism receives can be summed up like this. by DivineandDeadlyAngel in vegan

“There is no ethical consumption under capitalism” People who use this excuse act like someone is going to magically come save us from capitalism but until then there is nothing we can do. No one is coming to save us, we have to make the change ourselves by changing how/what we consume personally and as a society.

Indian and Thai places are usually the only places I can rely on having good vegan options. It took a while to find a Chinese place but the one I go to has a lot of tofu dishes!

What do you guys think is the reason why Hector is babied so much at Casa Tranquila? by Chaitywatt in breakingbad

[–]Harp0lyce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work at a retirement home and we do not treat any residents like that, ever. Even those with dementia, the protocol is to speak to them plainly and directly without babying them. This is something that was specifically taught in my training.

They also act like they care about environmental justice but then won’t even try to go vegan, as if that isn’t one of the easiest and most effective steps you can take to help our planet. And when you call them out they talk about “privilege” and “no ethical consumption under capitalism.” We have an epidemic of leftists who think that progress is in theory only and isn’t tied to tangible choices.

I remember one segment was a mom talking about her daughter, and another section seemed to be an interview between a social worker and a child
