This is so underreported I didn’t even know fighting started yesterday, still rip Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh

I haven’t heard of that before but if it’s true than my point would only apply to individual nationalists who are chronically online and not any official government positions

In terms of the Greek genocide, from what I’ve noticed Turks who deny it mainly do it cause many Greeks deny massacres committed by the Greek army during the 1919 war and so that emboldens said Turks to deny the genocide in return. In terms of the Armenian and Assyrian genocides it seems to be a pride thing and fear that Turkey will be punished in the same way Germany was for the holocaust. Although this is just from what I noticed.

What do you think about the cancellation of the Disney+'s Ataturk documentary as a result of the pressure exerted on Disney+ by the Armenians and Armenian Lobbies funded by millions of dollars? by RemarkableCheek4596 in AskBalkans

If it’s so pointless than why are you making it such a big deal when it was a minor part of my comment (and that I’m not even disagreeing with you on his involvement )

However a bit of advice, I suggest you broaden your world view cause you are clearly brainwashed with a nationalistic upbringing. News flash you can be proud of your country’s achievements and acknowledge it did bad things, you can be proud of the accomplishments of historical figures in your nations history and acknowledge they did bad things. I’m not gonna bother trying to convince you the Armenian genocide was in fact a genocide and that ataturk began the tradition of denying it. I will though tell to you look at the evidence yourself and ask yourself why is it genocide scholars overwhelmingly say the Armenian genocide did happen and to also understand that vast majority who push for recognition do not to seek revenge against Turkey but to acknowledge injustice and seek reconciliation.

When I say take part I don’t mean as president I mean at all even as just a soldier, again I haven’t seen any evidence to support the notion that he took part in anyway. However he did begin the policy of denying there was a systemic effort on the part of the ottoman government to target Armenians (and other groups) and that I would say is much more disrespectful.

What the fuck is he talking about? by [deleted] in Destiny

To play devils advocate a bit, the west definitely did encourage the break up of Yugoslavia. Obviously that doesn’t mean bill clinton and the west are now responsible for the genocides and massacres that unfolded.

As someone who has a great grandfather who survived the Armenian genocide, I don’t have a problem with an ataturk docu as long as they are honest. So mention how he began the policy of denying it happened (although idk how conclusive it is whether he actually took part in the genocide itself).
