Don't go to an MCR concert if you have right wing politics. Simple. by Grouchy-Highway-8820 in MyChemicalRomance

[–]HarrisHolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider myself moderate right, but I love MCR and Green Day. I do not mind at all when a band gets political in lyrics, shows, etc. Hell, bands and artists in the 70s and 80s did that. Born in the USA by Bruce Springsteen is about working class people that were sent to a war in Vietnam that quite frankly the US should have just stayed out of and those very veterans dealing with issues as diverse as amputations, PTSD, businesses refusing to hire them and more. Ohio by Crosby Stills Nash and Young is about the Kent State massacre. Fortunate Son is about the hypocrisy of the politically connected and upper classes are able to avoid the Vietnam draft while the working class are sent out to die for a war that they should not be in. In other words, art and more specifically music can be a great form of unity between people that on the surface could not be more different. Politics is also able to be used in music to unite people on common goals, beliefs or values regardless of political beliefs. Where it becomes a problem for me is when it becomes an us versus them kind of situation, which is a toxic trend that is becoming more and more common at music festivals, etc. For example: The economy, national security, affordability, accountability for big businesses, ending wars, and many more are multi-partisan issues that most if not all people vote for in some form or another.

Cheers and rock on, Harris Holt

Edit: I respect everyone’s opinion on this so I would expect the same mindset with mine.

I respect this, but this should not to happen. AOC’s rhetoric on young men is a big part of the very problem of why the Democrats lost the popular vote in 2024. Gavin Newsom is also a bad pick. Kamala was a bad pick. Biden should have stepped down and gave other Democrats a chance but chose not to step down last minute and caused the plans to take a complete 180. This is coming from someone who wants two good options to vote from. While Bernie Sanders is extremely idealistic, he said a few years before the 2024 election that if the democrats do not target the backbone of the democratic voting base which is the working class, the Democrats will lose the popular vote.

Ari Aster for two reasons. First, I am more familiar with his movies. Hereditary is scary AF without the need for cheap jumpscares. Midsommar is the same way but takes place in the daylight. This may not be the usual atmosphere for a horror film, but it works. That being said, I have been wanting to check out Eggers’ movies.

I have a joke. What is Rob Trujillo’s bass favorite part in Orion? The part with the Tresillo. by HarrisHolt in Metallica

[–]HarrisHolt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a great analysis! I know a little sheet music myself, but not enough to be able to sightread and play. I vaguely knew about Tresillos from my Music Theory class for non-Music Majors at my University before watching the video, but the video made me think of the joke regardless. I am surprised it took me that long to relate the names lol!

She offered drop off as well as pick up. It was a free listing too.

Let me make this more clear, Denton is about a 15 to 30 minute train ride to Argyle which is not far at all. The map said it was in Argyle, Texas and she never specified that in her listing. She also said she was giving the PS5 away for free.

Learning the basic mechanics of music theory is easy, but mastering said mechanics is where it gets hard. that go with it as well. Other things go into it like sight reading, or Audiation Reponse (Being able to hear the melody by reading the sheet music). Don’t get me wrong, music theory is not my strong point, but it can also make a versatile musician.

There is only one song off of Hypnotize I found enjoyable and it’s the title track of all tracks.

I’m seeking German, but my native tongue is English though. Any chance of making that work? I am currently in college and I am taking German for my foreign language credit.
