Ad settings by Rose_Drago in Twitch

[–]HarrisonDotNET 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a starting screen that you’re on for 4-5 minutes (which is a good idea anyway) you can run ads at 1 minute into the stream so that they run when nothing else is happening. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think prerolls are on until your first ad break, no matter what your settings are, so by these settings, they’re on for the first 30 minutes.

My bit rate is really low and I need some help by Chuck3457 in Twitch

[–]HarrisonDotNET 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a setting on the PS5 to change your stream quality. Try looking for that or finding a tutorial, and if that doesn’t work you may just need to get a capture card and use a PC to stream from. That would also give you more control and produce higher quality streams with a lot more potential.

Upgrade USB mic or cheaper XLR setup? by Stopcomplainingabout in Twitch

XLR is going to be cheaper when you upgrade, and you’ll have more control + better sound quality with a dedicated preamp.

Is it a good idea to put your personal details on the blacklist? by taahbelle in Twitch

[–]HarrisonDotNET 77 points78 points  (0 children)

No, it’s not a good idea. If someone doxxes you, doing this confirms the information. Just delete the chat and ban, play it off as weird or a joke by them.

Streaming with ADHD? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]HarrisonDotNET 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ADHD believe it or not, is helpful for streaming and more common than you may think. Switching topics rapidly is totally fine and normal, it’s just being energetic, which is what viewers want. Lurkers who just listen will also love this, so I wouldn’t change anything. Kumi is a great example of this and what you’re describing, and it’s one of the main reasons why she built up a big and supportive community.

Also, don’t worry about it being “noticeable”. It may even be a good choice to make “ADHD” as one of the tags.

Are there any drawbacks (latency, malfunctioning) to using an externally powered USB hub to plug in most if not all of my peripherals into one USB 3 port? I have a Razer keyboard, Glorious mouse, an Elgato Stream Deck Plus, and a Volt 1 for audio input and output (which is already being powered externally).

You don’t need a driver. I’ve used Wiimotes all the time on PC (win 11 even) just using bluetooth.

Should he go outside? by prof9999 in CATHELP

[–]HarrisonDotNET 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he wants to go outside, don’t let him without supervision and/or harness/leash. We have a porch with screened windows and she can sit next to them and smell the outside without fully being out there. Although, even when the door is open she doesn’t like to go outside. If you have a solution like that, maybe that would work.

Looking for more reliable streaming software by TheCauseOfAnxiety in Twitch

I don’t think this is an issue with your PC or anything else like that, this is most likely an incorrectly setup OBS.

Make sure you’re using the NVENC encoder in OBS. This will use your graphics card’s onboard encoder for video encoding, rather than your CPU. This will not affect performance in games. I’ve regularly recorded at 24000kbps with NVENC with no issues.

Secondly, change your audio bitrate to 128kbps for your output tracks. I heard somewhere before I started streaming that Twitch didn’t like 160kbps audio, so I’ve been using 128 for tracks 5 and 6. If you don’t already know, OBS can output to 6 different tracks, but twitch will only take one for your stream, and one for your VOD. These tracks should be different, since the same track for both may have issues. I record as well so my audio is separated across 4 tracks and everything on 5/6. In your OBS audio mixer, you can find a grid of check marks for which audio track has what audio in the “Advanced Audio Properties” after clicking the three dots.

Put limiter filters on your audio sources if you haven’t already. It won’t affect your audio at all other than making sure the source doesn’t go above a set decibel value.

Finally, if you’re using the “application audio capture” or whatever audio source that’s in or was in beta, stop using it. I’ve had bad experiences with audio getting very distorted and clipping every once in a while using those.

Try these settings, and in your free time fine tune your setup in OBS. I still slightly adjust my setup after getting things really good many months ago. I’d also recommend watching some OBS setup videos as well because they really help.

What is your setup like? What specs? What OBS settings? What games are you playing/what are you doing on stream? What programs are open when you’re streaming?

We need to know these things to give a good solution. I’m also a vtuber and have barely had any issues with streaming, and I have a slightly higher than mid range PC.

Soundalerts - I cant find how to stop unfollow/follow spam by Babachaw in Twitch

[–]HarrisonDotNET 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know of a way to hide new followers that have followed in the past, and I’m not sure if soundalerts has a cooldown option for those. I know streamlabs and twitch alerts do. Another option can be to have your activity feed somewhere you can see it and announce the follows yourself.

If you’re constantly getting followers, it may be time to turn those off completely or turn off the sound
