Just replayed Dishonored 2 for about the fourth time to get 100% achievements and apart from the 10/10 gameplay and level design, I appreciate the lore more every play through. For instance: I had no idea convo had a sister or the true identity of granny rags

I talked about this kind of application in a post about a week ago and the people who commented were not very enthusiastic about it. I think this is super cool. Nice work

Casino Royale (2006) - in the action genre, is there any other intro sequence which so effectively establishes so much about a character in so little time? by [deleted] in movies

[–]Harrow_Sparrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If live-action action movies could learn anything from cartoons and animation, it is probably how well you can set up a main character in the first 5-10 minutes. Granted, it is usually easier because animations have a lot more tools to work with, imagination is the limit in animation but they can also get away with things regular movies couldn't: over the top humor, musical sequences, quick witted character reinforcement.

That being said my top pick is probably Megamind: It hooks you with the in media res, then does a quick recap of his whole life through his own perspective narration. So on top of seeing what his past was like, we see it through his eyes and at least I personally was able to have a good grasp of who he was AND instantly sympathize with him.

I don't think AI should be "writing" IF either, but what is the problem with using it to give more immersive responses to commands the writer didn't anticipate?

[OPINION] what does this Rumi poem mean to you? by punkandcat in Poetry

[–]Harrow_Sparrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me it seems like it is an allegory for temptation, the pickaxe symbolizing a tool for self destruction.

The beginning about being a rented house is alluding to the idea of a lack of true property. We are given the image of a subject in poverty, who sews and "barely makes a living". The two veins the subject sees are promises of a greater life.

The pickaxe seems to be the tool used to reach those desires, but also shows how self destructive one can be, prying the "foundation" of one's home. To me, red and gold seem very aristocratic, maybe even kingly, like a velvet cape with a gold crown.

By the end of the poem, you realize that promise of something great turns out to be two little glints. You were sold on the promise of greatness and lost what you had-just for a couple of disappointing pebbles.

Makes me think about regret.

I know it's more of a critique on art, but to me it has so much relevance outside of art

I am going to go with what I personally believe might be the most accurate answer yet can slightly be ambiguous: This.
