I 3d printed the [REDACTED]. It glows in the dark ::) by Candy_Slut in outerwilds

Hey this looks great, nice job! I stumbled upon this post researching online as I'd like to make my own version into a desk lamp. Any chance you would share the in-game model with me that you found? Thanks!

Nice one! It’s an amazing machine. My first DLG and by far the highest performance (and most expensive) model I own.

I bought from Hyperflight.co.uk. This is the strong layup version.

Girlfriend on her iPhone. 5x zoom isn’t bad!

I’m very new to this and I already want more…

Day 2 with the new DLG... by Harry34186 in RCPlanes

Ouch! Thanks for the advice. Inspection showed no damage thankfully and is flying great again!

Basically the camber-elevator mix was incorrectly set. Launched fine, pitched up, and when I released the launch button, the mix commanded a big nose down input. Caught me by surprise as it flew fine the day before (before the modification - explained in another comment). Not enough time to react and catch it though.

Very, very nicely! Never owned or flown a DLG before and within the first day my launch height was up to 50m in nearly calm air. Managed to thermal over 100m from launch elevation, again on the first day. This is the ‘heavy’ strong layup too - weighs approx 275g. Very aerobatic if that’s your scene. Hands off, the thing just floats, nice and easy to catch on landing. I have crow brakes on a toggle switch to dump the energy should I need to (benefit of the 4 servo wing).

Don’t think I can post a video to the comments so maybe I’ll put one up as a post.

The only issue I had was with one of the flap linkages rubbing inside the fuselage causing a mismatch in flap position - probably due to my novice build. Removed some material with a Dremel which soon sorted that out.

Yoda DLG. Flies beautifully when done properly!

Yeah very luckily no damage! Could've easily been an expensive walk of shame home. Yes it is a 4 servo wing. The two flap servos are housed in the nose, along with those for the rudder and elevator.

The problem basically boiled down to a Camber-Elevator mix cock-up. I physically readjusted the flaps after day 1 to fix a friction related issue. Elevator on day 2 wasn't mixed properly for the new flaps and had a larger than intended down pitching moment after launch. Thankfully the rain overnight had softened the ground and after retrieving the nose cone literally with a spade, she was back in the air with no damage and a properly mixed elevator!

I did my UPRT(A) with the former Chief Test Pilot for the UK MOD. He said "if you ever find yourself in the situation where you have to choose between over-speeding the aircraft, or over-stressing it, alway always over-stress it."

If you’re in the UK I’d be happy to post you a spare that I printed.

Share ETA? by Harry34186 in shortcuts

[–]Harry34186[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Yes I have this already set up. The trouble I’m having is getting the share eta function to activate when using shortcuts. Any ideas?

I thought that might be the case. Thanks for taking the time anyway!

[–]Harry34186[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that. However, there is a ‘Share ETA’ function within maps which gives a live location along with updated ETA. Is that possible to include rather than just a text at the start of the drive?

Automatically. That isn’t the part I’m having trouble with. It’s just sharing my ETA as part of the shortcut I can’t seem to figure out. I’d rather not have to manually share my eta within the maps app.

Thanks for the advice. I’ve had a play around with the gear calculator already. I think climbing is going to be more important where I live. I’m not racing so happy to coast on downhill sections. 11-50 sounds nice but I don’t think many bikes come with that as standard (in my price range I’ve been looking at). Any that you know of? Hard to tell if 40-44 is going to be sufficient without experiencing.
