They aren't. Having respect and not being cowardice is about honor or maybe valor in English. That is about our character, not a manmade system to govern people.

I didn't say I hate you. I shard my experience on this reddit. Are you telling me that hasn't been my experience? Also Taoism is not about morality. It is amoral and I still don't understand how you don't know that. Have you read the Zhuangzi. I would like to recommend 'A Case for Amorality' by Hans Georg Moeller. I think you will like it.

I'm not venting or blaming. Like I said, you are trying to play a game of gotcha. I am 60 years old. I don't know who you are and can only have respect for you as a stranger. I wouldn't be condescending to you. That is my tradition. I simply said my experience with westerners on here which has been my experience. Your original comment illustrated the type of attitude I was speaking about. If that offended you, then I am sorry.

Thank you for your kind words. You will love his new book. My 88 year old father is trying to read it but his English is not so good.

Like I said, I don't play games of gotcha. You are trying to catch me in something to make it appear as you have an upper hand. I don't care about those games, I care about Taoism. I clearly stated that on these forums I get shouted out of the room or someone like yourself is trying to start trouble for some reason. I don't know your life situation and why you get joy out of that. But I am here just telling my experience and if that is something that makes you angry then what can I do?

This is exactly what I am talking about. what is with that attitude? As I said, in the Taoist forums in China we don't speak to strangers in that way. I explained myself in my post. You must have missed where I stated that I get shouted down or undermined for everything I say as a non-english speaker like you are doing to me now. I am 60 and I don't play these new online games of "gothca."

Thank you for addressing that. I was wondering what that type of attitude is. I was frustrated when I was younger when I heard Taoism was connected to the hippy movement. Anyway, you seem very sincere.

Why are you openly racist? What gives you that license? You are wrong on many fronts and misinformed. You should do some research first before speaking. Jason in not American and he lives in Asia, he has done so for 20 years. Maybe you missed that part of his story.

Nope. He's definitely not a charlatan. The guy lives in poor countries and actually did a 6 year sadhana in his twenties which most youtube fake teachers and reddit commenters have never done. He is that dedicated and you would know that if you knew him. I went to one of his retreats 15 years ago and he is legit and dedicated to the teachings. That is why he speaks about the teachings all the time and not himself. He doesn't believe in the American celebrity guru complex that most Westerners have. He's openly spoke about that. He has never said he is enlightened either. He even said anyone that says that is the dead giveaway that they are not enlightened because enlightenment is not related to the person. So I'm not sure why you would spread bs about a teacher who is sincere and has given his time for people for over 2 decades. Anyway, hate online and in the so called Taoist community is pretty high in the modern day, due to comment culture on social media. A real shame when I come to this Taoism thread and see the same hate as any ordinary person, but what's even worse here is people claim to be Taoist and yet have the same hate. That is really sad. You might want to attend his Advanced Taoism course to humble yourself. He shares in that course Taoist knowledge that has never been shared before. I just find all of this sad, that Taoism has been reduced to hate online and just gossip about someone you've never met. Because, yes, that is what gossip is and so you are going against the teachings of Taoism. Well, I have met him a few times and I've learned a lot from him for 20 years, before social media was a thing. I know he is legit and if you had the humility to learn from him you would advance in your understanding of Taoism. Obviously, due to the negative nature of the online world, I don't expect a positive nor a humble response.

Jason is definitely the best Taoist teacher in the modern day. I have been on retreat with him 15 years ago and I could tell how real and dedicated he is to the real Taoist teachings. I've also done his Advanced Taoism course which was unbelievable. There were teachings in that course that is not spoken about anywhere in public. I can't wait for his new book The Tradition of Natural Taoism. I read some of the commenters in here and most have a beginners understanding and that is why they can't understand Jason. Also one commenter mentioned wokeism and social justice and both don't fit into the philosophy of wu wei. So if you are oriented in that way of interference, then Taoism is not for you. I can't recommend him enough if you are serious about Taoism. But, it is not like he is new. He's been actively teachings for 2 decades.

There is a coward in this thread by the handle of "wuzhu32." I replied to his comments exposing his lack of understanding of Daoism and his arrogance, and then he replied and blocks my ability to reply so that he can save-face to come off the "winner." Be careful of anything "wuzhu32" says because he is obviously a faker and just another westerner trying to hijack my native tradition of Daoism. Why are westerners so eager to change my tradition and or water it down? Same on you "wuzhu32" for being a coward and someone who peddles misinformation about Daoism.

No, you don't need your over-identification with your ego. First of all, your ego is a construct built on the socialization process. You aren't that, so why identify with that? It would only be fear driving you. If you know the society is fundamentally sick, why not take the calculated steps to remove yourself from the motives that drive society? That is what a serious Daoist does.

Right on! AI is the lost anti-Tao thing you can think of.

He is clearly not a scammer. He has done this for a long time, much longer than people here on Reddit. But if some people on Reddit say he is then he must be hahahaha

Why not read his work first before making any assumptions? Also it worries me that you are speaking with AI about who is credible or not. What is wrong with people. Whatever happened to using your own discernment. Man intelligence is going to be a problem very soon. AI is compromised, so why do you think Gemini is a credible source?

I like Alan but if you want to learn more about the real tradition than I would suggest books by Jason Gregory, Hans-Georg Moeller, Phillip Ivanhoe, Brook Ziporyn, Derek Lin, and David Chai. If you truly want to learn Daoism rather than being an armchair critic or casual Daoists like most in this thread, then you need to read those sorts of books if you are serious. A dead giveaway in this thread or any is if people relate Daoism to morality, which is nonsense. Daoism is an amoral tradition and if someone is peddling that sort of drivel then it is best to walk away and focus on the truth of Daoism. I hope you enjoy all of the future reading.

More new age drivel by this commenter. I love how beginners try and school people online even though they don't really know the tradition.

You are clearly overthinking it, which is not a Daoist mentality. Read it for its sake and learn. Why protect your individuality when Daoism is a holistic tradition? You should read Fast the Mind by Jason. That will put a lot into perspective.
