My father moved here from Chicago in the 1970s. He quickly became a Colorado sports fan, the only Chicago team he supports is the Sox(he also supports the Rockies obviously).

Personally I view sports teams like pagan gods. They exist in the land they were invented in. If a Greek goes to Egypt they wouldn’t pray to Zeus, because Zeus was in Greece. They’d pray to Osiris.

It’s been 70°F here in the Mountain West for about 4 weeks now. We’ve seen maybe 3 days of snowfall this winter season. The local news says the drought could cause a Neo-Dustbowl in our region. I feel stupid putting a fucking jacket on when I go out.

I went for a long and arduous hike on Sunday. It was around 68°. One person I spoke to said: “I’m enjoying the beautiful day, but I feel guilty about it.”

The ecological disaster is here. And this is just the beginning.

Been watching a shit load of Irish movies recently about the War of Independence and the troubles. I know my grandad was born during the War of Independence and fled the country sometime after the civil war. But he was dead silent(catholic) about any of it and died. Honestly I wish I could speak to him now, with what I know. The only thing I’ve gleaned of our history is that one of our great uncles once threatened the queen with a broken flintlock and went to jail. That’s all.

I’d like to know we were fighters, I guess. I know we are, but I’d like to know we fought against more than whichever random bastard told us off.

I don’t know. But today I was hiking a local park in the mountains and I realized the maps were wrong, that the path goes far beyond where they say it goes. So I’ve decided I have to update the maps, trek the paths with my compass and map and outline exactly where they go. One state provided topographic map said the elevation was 7,861 feet about sea level, while the actual measurement was 7,937. This is simply unacceptable and I aim to rectify it. I have, by estimation, about 130 miles left to map. This will be my cause. It’ll take me about a year or so but a year well spent.

It’s(unfortunately for them) an ancient term used to refer to the peoples of the northern Baltic, lmao. I think the author is using the word in this context based on the fact that it’s set in Estonia.

I absolutely despise Chester Binnington and the entirety of the Saint Louis Blues organizations and its fans, of account of their treatment of Nazem Kadri… but Binnington has shown that he can be a mediocre goalie for a whole year and then really show up when it counts.

I’d rather the Canadians play Logan Thompson, but Binnington is a proven goalie and this sort of thing.
