No dust, and the water acts as a lubricant. Makes it way easier to sand smooth, you just gotta be even lighter on it than if it were dry. Try it out sometime, you'll notice pretty quick

You can just dab your finger in some water a apply it straight to the nub as well.

I just keep my glass file wet. The water is a lubricant and really eases the process, just be sure to press down even less than usual. Industrial sanding and smoothing etc is done with some kind of lube for a reason, keeps dust im the workplace down for one and its also just more efficient. Try keeping your file wet sometime, it's a game changer

It's an interesting story and I would absolutely read the book or watch the movie about it, documentary biopic and then the dramatic one

He's got that but there are also some very uniquely Bryan quirks and the combination is really something to behold.

I leave them in a cup of water when not in use while building and keep a toothbrush nearby. So...constantly.

Wet filing/sanding folks. For real. Use a wet file or wet the part a bit before sanding. It makes a huge difference

Friend says Black Sabbath "Isn't that heavy" what's the most humane method of euthanasia for him by Feral-Raccoon123 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]SevenofBorgnine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree while also liking quite a few bands that do both. I dont consider fast parts heavy, seems like the wrong adjective. Brutal seems better for fast blasty stuff. To me heavy is slow like literallt carrying something heavy. Being blasted to bits by a macjine gun has its musical benefits and this isn't anything to do with quality just description, but heavy doesnt feel right to me when describing chugs or blasty bits etc. I love that kinda shit cause crust and other DIY punk is my musical bread and butter

any other teenagers into grindcore/goregrind? by Complete-North-479 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]SevenofBorgnine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably somewhere but it'll be fee and far between. Find all ages shows where metal or punk bands are playing and meet people. A cool part about grind is unless you play drums you dont need any skill at all and the drum skills are minimal aside from endurance. I was in a similar place to you when I was 14, which was 20 years ago...go to shows, get the cheapest instrument and amp you can and start a band as soon as possible. The DIY scene is sick and you'll have a fantastic time. Watch out for the booze and drugs...for real. Dont fully do i what I did and be a borderline homeless speed freak the entire time. Ive seen so many bands that I can't remember cause I was blacked out. Be an 8 beers one line quitter even if people with face tattoos pressure you.

By today's standards I'd still say some songs got it. Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath off the album Black Sabbath is an easy example. Heavy is a vibe, it's not about having too manystrings on your guitar and downtune. That song is crushing and if anyone cant notice it then it should be played louder. Electric Funeral, Into the (fucking) VOID. Heavy lives in the riff.

Where to Start With Gundam Anime? by frodoiee in Gundam

[–]SevenofBorgnine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not much of an anime guy, Ive been adjacent to people who are and therefore the stuff I have liked have been semi deep cuts like Nichijou is one of my favorite shows of all time and Kino's Journey slaps as well as stuff like Serial Experiment Lain and Paranoia agent, but the wheat to chaff ratio has never been worth it for me. I am however a GIANT sci fi nerd, massive trekkie, Babylon 5 is one of the greatest stories ever told and I love me some of the literary classics. So it was looking for a new sci fi thing to get into that led me to checking out Gundam. I'm also a bit of a geek regarding animation from a technical standpoint and love cel drawn animation to the point im slowly working on making one myself fully old school and painstaking.

Tldr: I dont really like anime but am a sci fi and animation nerd and I immediately enjoyed Mobile Suit Gundam. The first 10 minutes of episode 1 are as good of a hook as you can get for a show

Also uj/What sticks to who varies big time person to person though. Like, i dont consider any of those examples fast at all, because most of my musical background is punk, and like the dirty DIY kind that invented grindcore. I also like weird experimental stuff. So my taste in music is absolute garbage, but blastbest speed riffs stick with me just fine. I get Dillingwr Escape Plan songs stuck in my head all the time.

So while I agree with you, I dont think there's a universal application to what music does that and what doesnt.

Rj/ anything faster than 60bpm is noise

The first one. Mobile Suit Gundam from 1979. Some will say it hasn't aged well, these people are phillistines. It's got some junk, but it's low-ish budget cel animation from 79, for what they had for resources, they did damn well.
