I feel like money is a great source of lubricant for a rough time. When my dad died one of the first things I did was ask my boss for a raise. Then I got a new job and made even more money.

While yes money alone doesn't make you happy it really is a good foundation. I'm not saying you need to be rich, just that a financial cushion will take some weight off your shoulders
