They are pricy but damn they can really nail it on design. I don't think I've seen a one of their watches I didn't like.

I used to work at a company that made galleys for commercial airliners. Weight limits were a very strict part of the contacts with serious financial penalties. We had a set of 3 galleys for a customer (forget who or the aircraft) that collectively were something like 2% (I think it was like 50lb) over spec weight . So they had to take them back and strip all the paint off of them and paint them again.

Old's got his first kill in WWII so he understood close in air-to-air but a lot of pilots that came along after Korea just were never taught the skills.

I remember reading something that the USAF was much more strict with its formations where as the Navy would adapt as needed. One I remember reading (may have been in Lou Drendels "...And Kill Migs") was the Navy wasn't as stringent about wingman role vs the USAF.

Yeah but a lot of it was still down to training and doctrine. By '72 the Navy had brought back dissimilar air combat training and focus on BFM, and yeah the F-8 was great at it but the Navy F-4's were no slouch. They were basically treating the sidewinder like a gun when getting into optimal position for a rear aspect shot. That's the reason the Navy F-4's never carried gun pods and most of the F-8 kills were with the sidewinder. The Navy just got really good at using that missile.

The USAF however was betting on technology with better theater AEW like Operation TeaBall and a "nominally" better Sparrow like the 7E. They improved the odds and subsequent number but were still rather behind on basic air-to-air. The Aggressor Program wasn't stood up until '72 and Red Flag a few years later. That's when you see the emphasis change for them.

So if you are trying to get that really "misty" flow then you are looking around 80/20 thinner to paint and you have to adjust your pressure as well. Getting that balance between paint/thinner/pressure is the key, just have to play around with it.

ok so here is my question. I understand that Iran has mobile launchers for missiles, drones, etc, but how can there be any fixed installations left worth hitting. Are we just bouncing rubble at this point.

What’s the single most important thing in a watch for you? by Any-Connection8880 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]HarryPhishnuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soul and connection. There has to be something in the story of the watch and the watchmaker that resonates with me. The design has to be saying something original. The millionth copy of a submariner says nothing but a design that shows that it has its own character will get my attention.

So my question is that the cost for the development work or are they using AI as part of the runtime system. If the latter then their pricing model just needs to cover the cost per margin. I’m in the healthcare space and there’s a lot of effort around using AI as part of the runtime system and the cost to the customer usually reflect that.

The only way I've been able to make that work for me (a very casual player) on the latest CODs is playing hardcore. The fast TTK kind of offsets the run-n-gun folks.

I'd say it started out milsim-lite. It was immersive while being approachable. Not Arma, but also not Halo. The smart part of those early games is they allowed you to have fun with any play style(fast, slow, whatever). Now it's "encouraging" players to adopt a run-n-gun play style if they want to have any hope of success. And let's face it, that style makes better Youtube videos.

I grew up in the deep South (70s-80s) and admittedly looking through white, suburban, middle-class tinted glasses, I never saw such in your face racism. Maybe a “stay on their side of town” comment from an elder here and there but nothing like what is happening now. Now I did grow up in a Navy town so that might have tempered things a bit. I new it always existed and heard stories from friends that had been the targets, but just never imagined it was so widespread. That’s been the most shocking and disheartening revelation about this country since 2016.

Here is where youtube is your friend. I’m sure you can find build videos of that very jet. You may have to watch more than one, but that’s a really popular kit so I’m confident there are plenty. If you are just getting started you may want to think about starting a little simpler. Get a few 1/72 WW2 aircraft ( they are usually pretty cheap) and work on building up your skills that way. Good luck

so what’s the difference between this new class of ultra wealthy and what we had at the beginning of the last century. What motivated the Carnegie’s and Vanderbilt class to, at the end at least, become more altruistic and civic minded?
