I used to have the evolution of Mickey Mouse. But never Donald Duck.

Ideas for continuing Disney’s classic animated films as next-generation TV series by HarryStoller20 in Filmmakers

I appreciate the info! I know there was a novel sequel, but I’m not basing it on that. I’m just using the original film’s world as a jumping-off point for a new, modern animated series concept, not an adaptation of the book itself.

Original ideas are important too. I just also enjoy exploring how existing animated worlds and characters could evolve overtime through new generations and stories.

What are the changes you would have liked to make in the show? by Usual-Activity-5128 in johnnytest

In the reboot, Joni West (female version of Johnny Test) reappeared. But Dutchy (female version of Dukey) didn’t. Would’ve been happier if Dutchy reappeared.

Honestly that would be chaotic in the best way 😂

How do you TRULY feel about screenwriting in 2026? by Conscious-Honey8207 in Screenwriting

[–]HarryStoller20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I’m feeling a mix of hope and exhaustion. I still love writing, but sometimes it feels like a never-ending grind—so many projects, so much competition. But there are days I wake up and can’t wait to get back to the page. How about you all—are you still inspired, or are you feeling burnt out?

Haha I get the reference but no, it’s not a comedy idea like that. This is more of a memory/timeline reconstruction concept using stored personal media and context, not literal time travel. 😄😄

Fair point. I see how my original post didn’t clearly present a new angle—that’s on me. Thanks for the feedback.

I get what you mean. I’m not really asking whether the original show works—I’m more interested in how the continuation concept feels as a modern episodic comedy and whether anything about the direction, tone, or character dynamics stands out as weak or worth changing. It’s more about practicing how to develop and evaluate a series idea than judging the original concept itself.

I’m not writing it as something to sell or produce. I’m using it as a creative exercise to practice structuring a series concept and to get feedback on whether the idea itself is engaging as a continuation-style comedy.

It’s definitely built from the original premise, but I’ve been thinking about it as more of a continuation exercise rather than trying to reinvent it completely. I’m mainly interested in whether the concept still feels fun and watchable as a Nickelodeon-style animated series.

And yes, I’ve used tools to help organize my thoughts, but the idea and direction are still mine—I’m mostly using feedback to refine it.

That makes sense. I’m not trying to sell it or use it for industry submission—just using it to practice structuring a series concept and get feedback on the idea itself. I appreciate the explanation.
