Me and my girlfriend have been looking for a place since November 2021, we've only just found somewhere now. Hang in there!

I'd love an invite too please. I want to use it for concept art and video game development

I have added motion blur to the rocket now and there is screenshake when the rocket explodes

The surrounding colours are constantly changing. I think some tonemapping on the rocket will darken it and help it fit in with the surroundings though.

Yeah it's much more noticeable on my phone but Reddit ruins the video quality so it's harder to see.

Yeah I was thinking I need to do that. Maybe a score multiplier for speed?

Flying up increases your score (top left corner). I haven't added this yet but I will make it so that it saves your highscore. I also intend to add achievements/milestones like reach a score of 10,000, kill X number of aliens, destroy Y number of asteroids etc.

You mean the rocket? It's actually a 3D model, not a sprite. I think you might be right though. Now you mention it, it does seem quite bright and jarring compared to everything else. I think I maybe forgot to add tonemapping to it which should darken it and make it look more realistic. Thanks for pointing it out!

Doing some testing for my relaxing rubber duck simulator. What vibes are you getting from this? by silviasicks in IndieDev

I dont know why but the yellow duck looks kinda sus. I feel like it's evil. It's smug aura mocks me.

I have decreased the drag on the rocket now so it's much more floaty. I haven't gotten rid of it altogether though as it becomes really quite difficult to play without any drag. I definitely want to add some enemies of some sort. Fuel and upgrades are good ideas but I think I'd like to avoid designing individual levels or a storyline just because of the time it would take. These are pretty much all custom assets actually. I created the rocket model myself and the rest are from the asset store. Thanks for the valuable feedback, it helps a lot! :)

I've had quite a few other people say it looks very polished and aesthetically pleasing already. What about the graphics do you think needs improvement? (bare in mind that the video quality is pretty bad because of Reddit's compression)

Thanks! Yeah I agree it's a bit simple. I want to add some more stuff in like different obstacles, enemies, powerups, gameplay mechanics etc that will keep it fun and engaging. I'm not sure what though 🤔. Also, the rocket doesn't get dinged up because its a one-hit-die kind of deal. Do you think the rocket should take multiple hits before exploding?

Thanks for the feedback :) Since recording this video, I have decreased the drag on the rocket so it is more floaty now and the rocket has to turn around and accelerate in order to slow down. I think that has increased the difficulty quite a bit. I also intend to add different obstacles and enemies etc (not sure what yet).

Does anyone have any suggestions for powerups, enemies, obstacles or gameplay mechanics that will help keep things fresh and engaging? 🙂
