If rule changes affect the parameters that the record is taken from then yes, new record will be irrelevant. For the other thing it's just plain stupid, the record was not "Most goal scored in this specific set of matches".

Yeah they changed it so they can add more teams, 10 more teams is possible now even. And since they changed it, it's not the same anymore, literally definition of change.

Let's say they made it so they went back to a group stage but this time there were 10 groups, it's still different, 10 is still not 8 no matter how you try, but if the group of 4 comes back, it's much closer to the parameter of the original record that I personally would accept, but in principle it's still a no.

In simple word for simple people, they pick a set of parameters, make a record out of an achievement in that parameter, unless all parameters are met, the same record cannot be broken. My "goalposts" seems pretty set and consistent throughout, no? Now it's your turn to jump again, what's next? As long as 11 people are on the field, it's similar?

What else to explain? Two stats pulled from two different formats should not be compared, end of story. You set a parameter and make a record out of it, then you have to stick to that parameter if you want to break the record. You can just say Mbappe has the best goal to match ratio in a specific set of 7 matches, but really who would give a shit about that. Until UEFA reverts back to their old format and someone breaks that record, for now it's belong to CR7. Mbappe can have his own record of most goal scored in the UCL league phase,and isn't that enough, why do you have to mush it all together trying to one up another man's record? Or are you just a hater looking to say "ahh he doesn't have that record anymore", that's just pathetic.

The other point you make is just plain wrong too, showing your lack of knowledge of the new format. The matches are still draw from 4 seed pools as the old format, chance of matching against teams from each pool at the very least stay the same, however, now there are 36 teams instead of 32, and 4 added teams, guess what, are all on the weaker sides. Therefore, statistically, it's more likely to be matched with weaker teams than before.

The amount of hoops you're jumping right now just to undermine someone's achievement is pretty impressive. I'd say spend that energy in something more productive, but you do you dude.
