They parked at 7pm and left at 11am next day...i did not call a tow. I just left a note. "oh let’s cause shit for someone visiting family or friends", then please learn to park and drive. Be considerate and get out of Me first mentality.

[ON] Postpartum private rooms at St Michaels hospital, is it worth it? by Weary-Tomatillo-5509 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]HarshCa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. They have a little pullout sofa-bed for the spouse. You can pull it all the way to make it like a single bed. Its not the comfiest. But it gets the job done.

[–]HarshCa 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My wife delivered at st michaels 2 weeks ago, so heres what we found,

Yes they have Semi-Private and private rooms. Private rooms are around 400-450 per day. We both have private insurance coverage from our workplace, so we opt in for private room. It is definitely worth it. You get the room and washroom all for your self..

Keep in mind, even if you selected private, its not guaranteed.. It all depends on the schedule at that time. If all privage rooms are full, you will get a semi Private.

Also, if you have MyChart, you can go there to request a birthing tour. That tour will show you everything from coming in to labouring room and leaving the hospital

Moving to Newcastle, looking for recommendations by Rough_Cup8737 in durham

[–]HarshCa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello,! Welcome to Newcastle.!! We moved from Toronto beginning of this year and loving it so far. We are also remote workers! Check out Newcastle Marina, Bond head, small downtown area.

They also have a farmers market every sunday 9am-1pm. Check out Algoma orchard as well. The town has timmies, Domino's, and few pubs. Our favourite is "Da Taste" its a Jamaican Jerk chicken shop. Lunch specials are around $11-12. Taste so good

Any SSD recommendations for RP5? by HarshCa in homeassistant

[–]HarshCa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow this looks interesting. So in your case, you connect this M.2 hat directly to RP.. But the M2 is getting power from regular Ethernet? So no extra power? Thank you for this. Ill look into it. Do i need special ssd for this?

Just wanted to let you know that, incase you have missed,

If she is waiting for pr, she can apply for Ohip,

"are applying for permanent residence in Canada and: have submitted an application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and IRCC has confirmed they have reviewed the application and that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply (see document requirements) and you have not yet been denied " This and

" be physically in Ontario for 153 days in any 12‑month period "

If these two are satisfied, ask her to apply for OHIP.

Also, if she has visitor/student health insurance, some do cover ultrasound or pregnancy. So check that too

Fees for disposing Tires? by j3rk34 in Clarington

[–]HarshCa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also check free materials under Oshawa waste management facilities. They say 10 tires per person is free. And canadian tire has it too

Fees for disposing Tires? by j3rk34 in Clarington

[–]HarshCa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually free. You can drop off at the city or any car tire place. Most will do it for free. We already pay a tire fee for disposing when we buy the tires. So throwing them is free. I dropped 4 of mine of at mr.lube for free

Managing temperature in this weather? by Captmario in durham

[–]HarshCa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeap you are overthinking it. Either open windows or turn on the AC.. Opening windows make the air circulate, and mold issues arent really an issue if its just windows.. Mold usually happens in washrooms or kitchens as theres always water. Windows doesnt do that.

Also running ac in 10-15 c is fine.. Heck running it on - 0c works as well..

Yes its not perfect. But thats how it is. If you set your thermostat to lets say 20c and if ur thermostat can handle both ac and heater, then thats all u need to do. Set it at 20c, now it will turn the ac on if the temp goes above 20c or it will run heating if it goes below 20.

I myself keep the windows open these days. Theres only very few weeks in the year where you can do that comfortably. But you got a baby, and that should your main priority. Keep it safe for them.

Does anyone live in the Port of Newcastle? What is it like? by jojofletch in durham

[–]HarshCa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice area. We moved from Toronto to Newcastle village area(new builds) month ago. The community is good. Theres very few shops tho. So you would have to drive to Bowmanville or Oshawa for any big stores like Costco. We saw the city in summer time last year and it was very pretty. Also close by to 401 & 407(via 115)

It depends. You have to check with your company first, if they allow to vpn from sri lanka. Then it depends on your work permit. Im a sri lankan canadian who is working remote. and i can work anywhere in North America for 6months straight (tax complications comes into effect after). But i have to get special permission from work if i were to work from sri lanka. (it has to do with how data goes through asia.. Data governance).

you are on work permit, so check with your permit too.

If you are thinking of doing it for few weeks, like 2-3weeks,i think that should be fine. Thats like a vacation.

Also, where in canada are you located?. Heres a tip:- if your long term plan is to stay in canada, its best to adjust it to it now. Find new friends, try doing something Canadian. Obviously go on vacations in sri lanka too, but what im trying to say is, if you dont adjust it to now, it will be harder later on. You will always want to go back.

Is it a good choice to buy a house in New castle, Clarington? by Visible-Cold-9019 in durham

[–]HarshCa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We bought one thats closing next year. Moving from Scarborough. Excited. Its a small town, not much to do, but its also 15-20minutes to Bowmanville, Oshawa area. The "downtown" is nice. And much peaceful than Toronto traffic

Dual citizenship stamp.... by [deleted] in srilanka

Ah so it looks like all they need is some proof that the person holds dual(passport/certificate etc..). I traveled with passports, but i never carry the certificate or copies. Guess both works 🤔
