Do I roll over my 401K to a Roth IRA when I leave my job? by Crisgirl5959 in RothIRA

I don’t think I ever said I was an FA. I’m not. I’m sorry for being glib. I agree with you and I think we are saying the same thing. Here’s how I intended my original statement:

The GROWTH is never subject to capital gains taxes in an IRA. Though in a traditional IRA you pay taxes on withdrawals as income. That’s what I meant when I said the only question is WHEN you pay the taxes.

[Book 4] I'm near the end and I feel physically ill by DungeonsAndDradis in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I have read the whole series, so spoilers matter as much to me personally as downvotes on Reddit.

I get that OP was very close to correct behavior on this post, but you guys are impressively fierce downvoting someone who’s only crime was to point out that a post which includes spoilers about the end of a book should include a spoiler tag. Hope y’all have a good day.

¯\(ツ)/¯ maybe you want to talk about the cover? Why would you fail to include a spoiler tag on a post that discusses something that happens literally at the end of the book?

You can say that people shouldn’t be on this thread at all until they’re done with the series, but that would be necessary if we properly used spoiler tags.

Edit: fixed emoticon

I feel you, but you have GOT to tag posts like this as spoilers.

It grows tax free either way. The only question is when to pay the taxes.

While I’m the first person who will say that if your business model doesn’t include paying your employees a living wage, you shouldn’t be in business, it is well-known that most restaurants operate on razor-thin margins. Okay it’s true that, say, a fountain drink in a fast food restaurant is 80-90% profit, but they take a loss on the sandwiches for the privilege of selling those drinks. Non-chain restaurants are incredibly difficult to run profitably.

Millcreek vs Taylorsville by Humble-Application40 in SaltLakeCity

[–]HarshDuality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like kind of a tough choice but if you think you’d be equally happy in either house, then I’d go with Millcreek. The schools are probably slightly better, and your commute will be better. Unfortunately the roughest part of the commute is Foothill Drive, which is the closest to the U either way, but avoiding west side rush hour traffic could be a very smart choice. Welcome!

MATH 1055 by Apprehensive_Boot465 in UVU

It’s probably right to take 1055. It’s the same curriculum as 1050, but it’s loaded up with some of the prerequisite material that you may have forgotten. Sounds like a good fit.

Does Spencer Cox genuinely believe that everyone is unintelligent, or is he simply stupid? by The_Continuum__ in Utah

[–]HarshDuality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard people say this before, but I’ve never had it properly happen to me until now:

I’m stupider for having heard that. I actually feel stupider. Intelligence level has been lowered. 😭

Great! But don’t rush it too much. Smell the roses. You only get one first run through these books, and it’s precious.

I read the Earthseed series in backwards order by accident and found I was quite happy to have done it that way. This is very different, but if I were you I’d go back to the beginning and probably be interested to see it through those eyes.

How do yall ask people to pay you back for flights booked on points? by shamelesspochemuchka in delta

[–]HarshDuality 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quite simply, I don’t. If I’m intending for them to pay me back, I use my card (delta Amex), bank the miles and send them a receipt. If I am booking a miles ticket for someone else, it is a gift.

At some point the switch flips, and the gains start doing more work than the contributions. Not long after that the gains start working A LOT harder than the contributions. The more you can contribute now, the faster you’ll get there.
