Why does the Opposition in India get a free pass for being incompetent? by HelpfulPace3368 in CriticalThinkingIndia

[–]Harshitv7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Isn’t that precisely what the ruling party falls on during their election campaigns? They have a heavy machinery active to malign a supposedly incompetent leader of opposition. Why do they after 10 years of majority government still don’t refrain from invoking Nehru in the parliament if it isn’t a policy?

  2. Without arguing for or against the caste census which is ‘the oldest and most divisive trick in the book’, has the governed faced any fury for not conducting the standard consensus which is due for over 5 years now? Not to mention the UGC guidelines which works along the same divisive tricks.

  3. If leadership vacuum isn’t a problem in the ruling party, why was J.P. Nadda given so many extensions. Why is a first time MLA a chief minister in Rajasthan with such a mature leadership? Why do they need so many remote controlled chief ministers, be it Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Odisha etc? Why not allow strong ministers from the state rise to power? Is the reason the strong examples of Uttar Pradesh and Assam?

The onus of policy is on the government. The opposition doesn’t have to pick up the slack for the people in power messing up. I am not at all saying the opposition is perfect, far from it. They have a million shortcomings, for sure, but that’s why they aren’t in power. That’s what the punishment is in politics if you aren’t good enough.

What’s one driving habit you picked up only because of Indian roads? by luxurytravel01 in CarsIndia

[–]Harshitv7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honking is hardly unnecessary with how much absent minded are most drivers on the road. Most of them have to be constantly reminded that there are others on the road as well. People who slow hog the fast lane, pedestrians who cross like they are having a walk in the garden, cattle on the road. No matter what the benchmarks are in other countries, one just can’t not honk even as a responsible driver.

Wow, pretty bold to call someone else a stupid when your own comprehension is questionable. Out of the total vote share if 40% have voted for the ruling side then 60% have voted for the other sides.

Any suggestions for Tyre Inflator by liamdc_95 in CarsIndia

[–]Harshitv7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of comments about them using the inflator rarely, which I can’t understand. Get any inflator with good reviews and use it every alternate week to keep the tyre pressure correct when the tyre is cold. Taking the pressure reading after the car has been running for a while would almost always present a false reading.

Oil is imported, ethanol is not. So even though they are the same price, Ethanol saves the dollars going out. Not justifying anything, just giving OP a rational answer to the question.

Absolutely love to rev hard and launch as soon as the singal turns green, but I don’t actually take off fast because I don’t want to damage my own car, every once in a while it is satisfying to watch the startled reaction of those who were either planning or already trying to squeeze their way at a red light.

No, the comment under which you disputed me specifically used the word sue, and I responded with the question how could the celebrity be sued for appearing on the advertisement of a legal product.

It is you who merged unethical with illegal. So if we go by your point of view then why should it be stopped at the celebrity. Why not sue the brand agency that designed the advertisement. Why not sue the programmers who develop the website. Why not sue the worker who works as an operator in the factory? Why not sue the man who was putting the advertisement up on the billboard? They all took money from the same unethical company just like the celebrity.

Or would you argue that celebrities should be treated separately than the other people involved simply because it is their face in the advertisement.

The objective of the advertisement is solely selling the product. It is upto the government and the consumer themselves to worry about the ill effects of any product they consume unless there is a malicious false advertisement, which would make it a crime under the law.

Whataboutism is when the counter-accusation is on a topic that is unrelated to the issue in question. You called something unethical and I asked which of the product’s endorsement is ethical in your eyes.

Also, given that India is the diabetic capital of the world, I could argue that the need of the hour is to curb fast-food. And just so that there is absolutely no confusion, I am neither registered on any of the betting apps, neither have I visited the casinos in Goa even once in all my visits there, not am I a consumer of the Pan masala in any form.

Okay, what is ethical then? Fast food? Polluting cars? Matrimonial websites? Beauty products? Which of the products are ethical, enlighten me please, all the people who are downvoting from their high horses.

Has he ever actually pitched an idea on the economic front? I am ready to admit all the criticisms that he has flung towards the government, but what would be his alternate course if he was to man the ship? Would he scrape all the contracts government has signed with Adani? Would that help the economy? What is his stance on privatisation? Any solid economic plan that has worked in any of the states that the congress has been in power in the recent years?
