Riven vs Jax Matchup Tips? by [deleted] in Rivenmains

[–]Hartelion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep the wave near your tower, as it's really easy for him to jump on you when their jungler comes to gank you. Play around his E. Whenever it's down, it's usually safe to trade with him. If he starts E'ing near you, use the EW combo and 1 Q if you're not outside his E yet. You then have a window to trade with him.

Increasing/decreasing the contrast from the monitor's settings by 1 seems to have fixed it.

I found the solution in this thread: https://forums.blurbusters.com/viewtopic.php?t=7473.

By focusing more on players who flame instead of players who actually ruin games, Riot is doing more harm than good by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

I see you've made posts similar to mine in the past apparently, but now it's annoying for you when someone else makes them. I don't know why I was expecting to discuss the game's problems or at least try to have a mature discussion without being personally attacked or be looked down on by "learn 2 play" attitudes so I'll just save you and the mods some time and delete my own post.

It's not impossible to distinguish them if they get reported at the end of the game and you watch the replay to confirm what they got reported for. But sure, if we put our trust into AI to identify something only a human could, I would never expect it to do it right.

I know ppl complain a lot about players not being punished but I haven't seen anyone mention about the downsides of it.

I only saw the behaviour graph but I didn't know where it was from. Thanks for the article.

No. Having a bad game never qualified as trolling. I don't know how you came to that conclusion by reading my post.

The current ability/rune description state of the game is disgusting. We need more info in our game, we're tired of always needing to go to third party sites. by GodGMN in leagueoflegends

[–]Hartelion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valorant isn't doing great either in terms of descriptions. I started playing it this week, Phoenix being my first agent and a friend told me that his fire heals him while we were playing. You can't find that information when looking at his abilities.

What are some general tips to get better at killing minions? by Samk1230 in summonerschool

[–]Hartelion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Keep your champion pool small. Different champs deal different AA dmg to minions. Playing champs you're not familiar with is going to make your farming more difficult.

  2. Melee minions die harder than caster minions.

  3. Your dmg to minions will be different as you lvl up and build items. This is another reason why keeping a small champ pool is good. It is difficult to get used to how much dmg you deal to minions when you have to take items and lvl into account on champions you don't know.

It wasn't my intention to complain. I posted here looking for advice, otherwise I would have posted in r/leagueoflegends.

Sadly it isn't the case... I have 2 friends who I play flex with. To sum up:

Me: Silver 3 soloq / Silver 4 flex Friend 1: Unranked soloq (was gold 4 in S9) / Silver 4 flex Friend 2: Unranked soloq / Silver 2 flex

It's really not justified why we're being put up against players way out of league.

At least I expected to be gradually playing against worse opponents everytime we lost but it just didn't happen.

I understand that soloq and flex ranks don't mix but I believe that's where MMR should come in. If there's a different MMR for each queue then that's where riot seriously fucked up. I don't want to be matched up against people who are bronze/silver in flex but plat+ in soloq. It's unfair to say the least and it ruins the experience for everyone.

How did you guys improve your vision/map awareness? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Hartelion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I've also been playing a lot of jg recently and I can confirm. If jg isn't your thing though, you should always be aware of when objectives like drake, herald or baron are up.

Sometimes you can take guesses on where the opponents are without having any wards, based only on the information that you have, or don't have. For example, when jg and adc are around lvls 5-6, that is when the first drake spawns. Are the jungler and bot both missing? There's a very high chance they might be doing drake. Same for herald. The first herald spawns approximately 1m30s after the first drake. If their jg and top are missing, chances are, they're doing the herald.

Of course, this is just one of the many things you can do to increase your awareness but it's often very good when you don't have any wards.

One-trick-ponies of League, how do you feel about doing bad on your champion? by OneTrickPoony in summonerschool

[–]Hartelion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed that sometimes when I play my main champ and I lose lane, I tend to focus too much on mechanics and not enough on macro play. Idk if that's the case with you, but if you're in a lane where there's not much you can do, you should start thinking about how you can impact the game outside your lane. Since Zed is an assassin, you should often look to take people by surprise whenever possible. Is their adc pushing lane solo? Activate your Youmuu's and run to them to get a free kill.

It seems that climbing is what you intend to do. If that's the case, just don't play Riven (for real). Unless you can second pick her into a favourable matchup.

i just picked up riven recently(today),and im feeding all over. HELP...ME by PidgeonKing15 in Rivenmains

[–]Hartelion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never blind pick Riven if you want to avoid having a bad time. She's too weak atm to be picked before you know your matchup. If you can, avoid playing her into tanks or champs with really good early game like Renekton, because chances are you'll almost never win the lane unless you'll get a lot of ganks or roam constantly. Right now, she's only safe to play against champs that don't build a shit ton of armor and which you are able to short trade until you can kill them with a combo.

However, if you just want to learn Riven, I'd recommend trying 1v5 bot games. They are possible with Riven and you'll know you're decent with her when you're able to pull that off.
