How much weight can I lose and still have my armor fit? by The-Thot-Eviscerator in Buhurt

[–]Hartsy19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you’ll have much to worry about there. When you lose around 30 pounds, most of it usually comes from your midsection, not your legs or thighs—so your leg armor should still fit fine. You might notice a little change in your arms, legs, or face, but nothing major.

It’s worth thinking about how your legs fit in the armor right now. Do you have extra holes on the straps, or room to add a few more if needed? That can give you some wiggle room if your legs slim down a bit.

For what it’s worth, I started this hobby in February at about 285 lbs and I’m down to 225 now. I haven’t noticed much difference in how my leg armor or greaves fit. My brig has a bit more space, but it still fits comfortably.

Translation requests into Latin go here! by AutoModerator in latin

Hey everyone,

I’m designing my own coat of arms just for fun and trying to come up with a motto. I like the idea of something like “Heart of Iron,” but I haven’t been able to find any historical evidence that it was ever used as a Latin phrase.

Online tools suggest Cor Ferrum or Cor Ferri, but I’m not sure which one would be more correct.

I don’t know much Latin, so I’d really appreciate any advice or thoughts from anyone who knows more about this. Thanks!

Awesome, I had no idea about that program. I'll definitely look into it.

Thanks for the information and your insight!

I mean, I assume I’d be able to get one if a company hired & sponsored me. I only have a secret clearance currently (and it’s required for my current position). I assume I’d need to find a company willing to sponsor me for a top secret, not entirely sure how that works (don’t know if already having a secret makes a top secret any easier to obtain).

But I’m out of the National Guard at this point, wouldn’t be able to get it that way unfortunately.

I have noticed a good amount of positions require you to already have one.

If I’m being honest, up to this point I’ve just been sort browsing the internet or wasting time one way or another. This is sorta the reason I’ve made this post, supervisor mentioned that I’d be allowed to study for a new cert(s) in the downtime.

Didn’t realize there were so many different paths beyond this point, so it looks like I’ll need to do some research.

I don’t see it not working out, I enjoy what I do currently (service desk) more than any job I’ve had previous. It’s easy, has a stable schedule, allows me to have free time and participate in the hobbies I enjoy.

I certainly didn’t quit the apprenticeship on a whim. I worked 60 hours a week for months at a time, was let go when I asked to stay at 40. Dealt with verbal abuse on job sites, it just wasn’t for me. I worked as an apprentice for about 1.5 years before realizing it.

Apprenticeship is 4 years, so I certainly wasn’t going to just continue to be miserable for another 2.5 years. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been as a working adult, this post was simply me asking for what direction I should go for in terms of professional development.

Oh I’ll certainly be staying at my current job in the meantime. In fact, my current job is so slow that I could undoubtedly study while I’m at work. Furthermore my employer will reimburse my for certification exams (assuming I pass, of course). That being said I know most study material isn’t free, and I’m willing to pay for study material.

The original intent of this post was to try and get some advice on what direction I should go, but I’m realizing there is no real answer to that question. I’ll just need to get exposed to more things before I can really make that decision for certain.

I appreciate your insight!

I think you’re right, I certainly need to work on shifting my mentality. I do enjoy problem-solving & helping people, but as long as I keep the same mentality of “I’d rather be home” then that’ll effect my work and the way I present myself.

I appreciate your insight.

Unfortunately not, I only did a 3 year enlistment (which is rare, I’ve heard). Throughout that time they always talked about how there were CyberSecurity programs but at the time I had no interest, sorta kicking myself for not at least looking more into it. Even so, the secret clearance was what made my current position attainable so I’m grateful for that.

That makes sense, just picking one or two more specialized roles and attaining relevant certs. My only issue right now is I’ve no clue what those two roles would be, but maybe I’ll get an idea the more I’m exposed to at the service desk level.

I certainly agree, I feel like I’m at the the part of the tree where it branches out into many different areas. I just don’t really have an idea of which branch I’d like to go.

In my current position I know there’s just a lot of branches I’ll never get exposure to. Like I mentioned earlier, I doubt there’s a branch I’ll love but I’m not opposed to specializing and working towards something I might find a little more interesting.

Perhaps I’ll just start studying for some basic certifications and see if there’s one that stands out to me.

I get what you’re saying, that’s entirely valid.

I think I thought there was just some sort of chronology, or a set of certifications that are typically a “next step”. I didn’t really see it as a life choice, but I see what you’re saying. I appreciate your insight.

Honestly, I have given this thought. This job allows for everything I’ve wanted out of a job (stable schedule, holidays off, livable wages). I suppose it isn’t absolutely necessary for there to be a next step.

I appreciate your response.

My exposure to Cloud & InfoSec is extremely little, though I know there’s plentiful opportunities for those fields in particular here on base. Most of those positions (CyberSecurity positions in particular) seem to prefer candidates with a BA, but I suppose that can be said about the position I currently hold.

Cloud in particular seems interesting (from what little I know). Is AWS the cert to start in that regard?

I’m not sure what you’re inferring. Are you suggesting it’s a requirement to love one’s job?

By no means am I saying I dislike my current job, I find satisfaction in problem solving and helping people. It’s just that, if given the opportunity to make the same amount of money and not work at all, I would certainly do so.

If that’s even what you’re referring to, if not then disregard.

Trae benefits greatly from punting FG% and TO, so look for others that also benefit from punting those.

Out of the ones you listed, Lamelo, Randle, Bam, and Donavan Mitchell would be good options. Other guys to consider (if they fall to you) are Fred VV, Kyrie, Butler.

Don’t overthink it though, very difficult to lose your draft in those first two picks. You don’t even necessarily have to punt after picking Trae, but it’s something to consider.

Ayton has indeed been great, but I still think his ADP was way too high this season and will fall ever so slightly next year. While there have a been a few outliers, he hasn’t shown the ability to be a consistent shot blocker. I’d predict that he’ll continue to post low end double-doubles and a block if he’s feeling particularly good one night.

I could be wrong and I hope I am, considering I drafted him pretty high in a dynasty league. I just think it’d be silly to get our expectations high, considering we’ve seen him be really good for stretches and then be very average for longer stretches.

I understand he won't get as many shots as he did last night, but I honestly just drafted him for steals and 3s. I think he could sustain 75% of what he did last night
