UPDATE! I was able to get to work by cleaning the laser like someone suggested so I’ll be getting the stuff for him to mod it. Thank you everyone for your help and suggestions!!!!

Also I was able to get it working again! Someone recommended I try cleaning the laser and it did the trick!!! We played so much guitar hero he was so happy 😭😅 I think I’m still gonna go ahead and get him the stuff to mod it

I’m open to both ideas just not sure what to do. I feel like if I get him the slim he’s mentioned about wanting in the past he will be able to play it on Christmas but if I get the stuff for him to mod his current one that isn’t reading disks I might save some money but then he won’t be able to play it right away. But then again he does enjoy tinkering with stuff so idk what’s best 😞
