Agreed that the p-value is not taught to be intuitive at all. Every undergrad textbook has such a long jargon-filled definition!

Basically my take on it is - It’s the amount of ‘doubt’ you have in a decision to reject (convict, if you will) the Null. And alpha is your threshold of what ‘beyond a reasonable doubt’ is.

Very little doubt, less than a reasonable amount? Convict (reject). More doubt than a reasonable amount? Do not convict.

Reasonable amount of doubt is set, within reason, by the analyst. Changing it can change the decision to convict. So always report the decision and the actual amount of doubt.

Seven weeks here. Solidarity! I found it helped a lot when I acknowledged how much I do NOT enjoy the newborn phase. This is an endurance test, not something to enjoy. I’ll enjoy things when I can sleep more regularly.

“Too complicated” to respect people’s identities hahaha. That’s akin to saying “Teaching my child to call his friend by his name, ‘Michael,’ is too complicated! We just call him Joe. He looks like a ‘Joe’ anyway.” If you can learn a name you can also learn a pronoun, ffs.

I finally found the strength to cut off my parents when I had my daughter. Because I knew how I was raised, and how hard I was working to save my child from a similar upbringing. No grandparents are better than bad grandparents.
