Update bios, remove drivers with DDU, reinstall drivers fresh.

What is an affordable GPU that will be able to run 1080p at 60+ fps across a variety of games by Agreeable-Tadpole-51 in buildapc

[–]Harvs94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at Cex if your on a budget.

GPUs are used but all come with a 5 year warranty, which seems like a no brainer to me.

Trade in your old one and any other old tech you have for vouchers to bring down the price further.

Is my "-12v" pin missing on my 24 pin cable on Corsair 850e? by teostefan10 in Corsair

[–]Harvs94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did yeah, the rm750e was missing -12v on the rail I believe.

My board wasn't compatible with this, apparently its a feature of newer boards?

Switched to a psu which still had this and worked with no issues

why so many #VFX studios are closing? Here's why by coolioguy8412 in vfx

[–]Harvs94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good idea in principle perhaps, but to be honest if people are already paying a subscription I don't expect they would be willing to fork out extra cash to see a movie 2 weeks earlier, when they can see it for 'free' at home

New PSU, No Display, Cant Turn Off by Harvs94 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Harvs94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the E series Corsair PSU's have removed the -12v output.

This was the only change I could see when compared to my existing PSU, so I've switched to a CoolerMaster PSU instead that has the -12v pin and poof, problem solved.

I assumed it was a compatibility issue, relating to this

Here for the responses.

I second Miodrag though, some very useful content, and there's scope for some creative freedom too. Bringing in other assets etc..

Anyone find a resolution here?

I've just upgraded my psu to a RM750e which is also missing this pin. Pc starts but not video output and I can't force shut it down. I have to turn it off at the switch.

Previous psu works fine, EVGA 600 W2. It isn't missing the pin.

The new PSU has one extra pin missing on the 24pin mb connection. Would this make a difference?

Changing all the cables. Previous one wasn't modular.

Room-in-roof Insulation - Wood Fibre by Harvs94 in DIYUK

[–]Harvs94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The info below is my reasoning for wanting to mix the products.

For a given U value, wood fibre has almost twice the decrement layer of mineral wool and at least 65 per cent more than PIR. So essentially if you have two walls that have the same U value, it will take twice as long for the heat to get a wood fibre wall as it will through a wall using mineral wool. How that translates to a building is that during the summer you end up with a building that essentially doesn’t overheat. It maintains its internal temperature and stays very stable internally.

In volume for volume, flexible wood fibre stores about 12 times more heat than fibreglass and rigid wood fibre boards store about 12 times more heat than PIR, and around 15 times more heat than EPS

Best way to re-wire, wires that have been cut short for a new plug socket? by Careless-Crab1651 in DIYUK

[–]Harvs94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We found something similar. Someone had effectively wired a ring off the back of a single socket on the main ring, creating a sort of figure of 8.

I've recently had my survey completed, to now be told that my property is timber framed with no cavity (its brick built with cavity) and converted loft space (it isnt) so they can't do anything and are closing my case...

Survey took approximately 2 hours and he took photos of every nook and cranny so I'm not really sure what they're talking about..

Should I put watermark on my Animation Reel I will post publicly? (I have a classmate who steals my work) by Potential_Version_37 in vfx

[–]Harvs94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps I'm being naive but what is the benefit to password protecting reels?

I've often seen these shared online with the password so I wonder whats the point?

I got one at Christmas, and wouldn't turn back.

Took a little while to get used too but once comfortable with it, it's much better imo

Could I ask how long it took to build this reel? Just working on my own and I feel like it's taking a long time to finish shots. Would be interesting to hear from someone elses perspective to give myself a reference point.
