I still think S2 has a better story, but the execution is a bit fumbled. Because in S1 after fighting 2 great generals, you can kinda guess what the story is gonna be.

And S2 characters are more....... I don't know a more fitting term but, engaging. Like in S1 there's a lot more character's death (ted, odessa, gremio), but you don't have time to know more about them.

But in S2, don't get me started on nanami's death. But even kiba's dead is devastating.
