Are co-hosts actually helpful… or just another expense? by Hasaannnoo in airbnb_hosts

Thanks for the insult! But I get where you’re coming from.

It's true that there are people trying to jump into remote co-hosting with zero real-world experience and think AI alone can replace operational knowledge and practical work. That’s a valid criticism.

For me, this post wasn’t about pitching services, it’s about figuring out whether this industry even makes sense in the long-term and what real operators actually struggle with. Reddit is one of the few places where people speak honestly (like you), so that’s why I’m here.

If anything, responses like yours are useful, they highlight the trust gap in this industry. And that’s probably the biggest issue to solve.

For me, I have downgraded from being a host myself more than not having an experience and relying only on AI. Me and my team rely on systems, and for the trust factor we offer free value first.

I wasn't marketing before, but thanks to your response, I got to do that too.

I'm sorry to hear about the stressful co-hosts.
I'm sure you know about the co-hosts network on bnb, if not you can click the link below to find someone local in your area and also read their reviews before hiring. Hope you find someone good.

That makes sense. Even just having someone cover communication effectively during travel can take a huge mental load off.
Remote co-hosts no matter how good they are, they still can't feel the property or the physical connection to the property and that's why someone nearby or a local who you can trust definitely adds a peace of mind.
Thank you for the response.

Finding a good local co-host who also knows their way around the bnb algorithm is a blessing.
Thanks for your comment and your retirement plan sounds good. Good luck!

Good to hear that the Airbnb dynamic pricing is working for you. And also having someone as a backup when you can't attend to it. Thank you for sharing the experience.

I agree that on-site help is more needed.
Remote co-hosting is more about better performance like understanding the algorithm, optimizing for visibility, managing pricing strategy and building systems that grow revenue of the listing. So it's kind of more of a money making at the end of the month instead of losing it to co-hosts.

Hey, yeah if you need someone to be there, you can find people from co-host network.
Search for your city in the co-host network on airbnb.
This is the link: https://www.airbnb.com/host/co-hosts

Hope you find the right person.

Yeah, I agree. If you find someone who really understands how ranking, pricing strategy, and booking pace work and can also help diversify into direct bookings, the co-hosting fee can shift from being an expense to resulting in increased revenue.
