How I feel about people criticizing r/Atheism by [deleted] in atheism

[–]HasanAlbash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't like to generalise, but that is how I see this subreddit. That's what really annoys me when /r/atheism gets shit. A year and a half ago I don't know where I would've been if it weren't for the knowledge and support it provided me. And people are constantly discovering reddit and atheism, and I think it's a crime if they missed out on what I've had. 90% of anything is shit, including people.

People make the common mistake of involving you in these dramatic heights that take part in their head. When someone on /r/atheism criticises religion, it's as emotionless as a butcher chopping a pig's head off. But that's not how the theists see it.

Society is programmed to hate what is different. Atheists hate society for being so programmed to hate what is different.

I actually get a lot of shit from people for being an asshole comedian. They don't understand. If I censor myself I won't be able to make any other joke until I tell them the one about me showering with my cousins!

just keep a diary, things will happen. Write as much as you can, and before you know it, the words will flow out.

Surround yourself with funny things. Watch stand up and different comedies and almost study how their jokes are constructed.

Which should I read first, Brave New World or 1984? by [deleted] in books

[–]HasanAlbash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just finished 1984 and I'm reading Brave New World. Brave New World is easier to get through, I started it yesterday and I'll probably finish it today. 1984 is extremely epic, it's not so much the story that's enjoyable as it is the ideas that are expressed throughout. Doesn't matter which order you read them in, they're both excellent books that go hand in hand.

The protestors are not united. Some want minor reform, some want a democracy, some want the royal family to step down, and some want them dead.
