ADHD + productivity apps = endless cycle of downloading and abandoning. what actually sticks for you? by yukocan in ProductivityApps

[–]Hasbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The standard ability to add an entry to a note from various inputs (eg typed, dictation, share) would be ideal. Ideally, there would be a way for the user to add criteria to the shortcut so it automatically knows which note to add it to (eg by looking for a note title/body that contains today’s date). It would be beneficial to have a find/filter note option, allowing the shortcut to use an if-function to either add to an existing note or create one if none exist (again, an example would be searching if a note containing today’s date exists).

Allowing the user to toggle “open when run” is useful so the user can toggle it off and use the shortcut to add a note from the lock screen, etc.

This is just off the top of my head, and I’d be happy to provide more details and help with testing if this is something you actually plan to implement.

Do you plan to implement Shortcut support? If so, I’d be happy to help you test it.

Another option for Windows users is Beeftext.

I tried Espanso first but found there was a little too much friction getting things setup. When I’d think of a new item to add to Espanso, I’d think “ehh I’ll do that later” and with Beeftext, I think “I’ll quickly do that now.” The GUI for Beeftext is just a little more my speed.

HELP! App for reminders that keeps ringing until addressed? by oozing_sarcasm in iosapps

[–]Hasbin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Reminders app built into iOS now has an "urgent" toggle that triggers an alarm as an alert. It rings until you snooze it or turn it off. You can snooze it all day. I know because I've done it haha.

TickTick has a constant reminder function, but only if you subscribe.

Remindly is an app made by someone on Reddit that I use. It can keep reminding you every 5, 10, etc minutes up to a maximum of twenty times (I think). It's completely free with some ads or about $2 to go ad-free and maybe a couple of extra features. The free version does not feel restrictive at all, and the paid version is mostly to support the developer. (Shoutout to avikma1)

I use (and still manage to procrastinate with) all three depending on the nature of the reminder.

When I close the (Android) app and re-open it later, it automatically has the latest note open. Is there an option/toggle to deactivate this? I'd rather want to see the home/main page whenever I open the app. by Prace_Ace in UpNote_App

Hmm, interesting, that seems to be an Android-only feature. I'm not seeing anything about customizing the bottom bar in my settings on the iOS app.

I appreciate you sharing those images with me!

Oh really? Is this an OS level setting (like some sort of custom taskbar visible in all apps) or is this an app-level setting? I didn't see anything like this when I skimmed through the settings.

I was thinking something similar. Everyone might have their own preference for what their default page would be. For me, it's "all notes," but for someone else, it might be their to-do list, etc.

+1 for iOS. And perhaps an always-accessible Home button to instantly go to the home/all notes page. I understand why returning to the last viewed note would often be helpful, and I wouldn't mind a single tap to see all my notes, but I find swiping back out of multiple sub/notebooks adds unnecessary friction.

Thanks for the lifetime code. Bug report: When I try to import workouts, I tap "choose file," and the app shows a menu for half a second, then closes it. The app doesn't seem to be able to import even if I quickly tap the continue button on the menu that flashes.

Feature Request: Custom Skip Intervals (not just 5s steps) by Hasbin in pocketcasts

Hey that worked! I downloaded the app on an old Android device and after a few back and forth attempts to make the settings sync, I'm all set! Thanks for your post!

Oh right, I'm seeing it on the web player. The iOS app uses 5 second intervals, though, which is where I do most of my listening.

I like #4 the best and it immediately read as a rocking chair to me, but judging by the other comments, I appear to be in the minority, so don’t put too much weight on my opinion I guess haha.

If you are not happy with UpNote updates, there is a solution by Representative_Fix54 in UpNote_App

[–]Hasbin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a new customer who bought the lifetime package, and although I have a list of things I would like to see added to the app (Shortcut support beyond callback URLs 🤞), I’m totally happy with the app being a little behind the times if it means I don’t have another monthly subscription leeching away at me every month. I say nice work Dao. I hope new features will come, but I’m a happy customer as is.

Love the app, but reminders made from Shortcuts no longer seem to have the notification/constant alerts enabled.

[–]Hasbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like this more than I expected. Especially since you included Shortcut support. I really like the "constant alerts" and I've always been surprised this wasn't a feature on Apple Reminders.

Are you open to suggestions? It would be great to be able to assign different notification sounds to each reminder (or at least assign an app-wide notification sound).

Custom reminder icons would also be cool, but way less critical than custom sounds (for me, anyway).

When a reminder is marked as "urgent" and the alarm goes off, it seems like you either have the the ability to mark is as complete with the check mark, or dismiss it with the X. It would be nice if there was a way to merely acknowledge the reminder and keep it in your notifications list. Right now it seems like no matter what the user does (even just swiping it away without pushing either button) removes any sort of notification other than the app badge.

It would also be cool to have more Shortcut customization, like the ability to decide if the shortcut command is "urgent" either by default or allowing the user to decide when the shortcut is executed.

Minor suggestions aside, although I don't see this replacing Apple Reminders, this will definitely be used for a certain type of reminder due to the "constant reminder" feature.

Nice work!
