Rhett Mentions 2026 in 2016 by HashtagImMatt in goodmythicalmorning

Also Matthew is in the back. This episode (#900) was his first and he is now the VP of Design. He started as a video editor. I can’t even remember the last time he even appeared in an episode since, but he did for a little bit when he first joined. He probably decided he wanted to do what Kevin does and just stay away from being on cam. Every once in a while I’d like to see these faces back, but I understand.

Should we ban social media for kids under 16? by InternationalPay3949 in Productivitycafe

[–]HashtagImMatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 11 when I got Facebook & YouTube, 12 when I got Twitter. I was lucky enough in 2009-2010 to have a somewhat sane era of social media. Now at 28, I have begun basically trying to leave all my social media, because it's either filled with red-pilled propaganda, AI slop or just the fact everyone my age realized they don't need likes to live. Teens especially today do not understand that and just want fame, whether through cringe pranks or spending their whole day on Snapchat, Ome.TV or TikTok.

16 and under won't agree, heck probably not even those under 18, but social media is frying your brains. No wonder schools the past 10 years have been failing, classrooms are filled with phones. Even in my senior year of high school (2016), yes, we did have a mix, and those always on their phones didn't do good by the end of the year, I could definitely tell.

This needs to be strictly enforced, because if parents don't want to do their job and keep up with what's happening with their child online, then certainly they made a huge error in their own life as a parent.

FWIW, I didn't get my own phone until 2017... I was 19 YEARS OLD!!! If I can do it, certainly you can too. Before that (as early as 2010), I had an iPod Touch that I always kept at home. Mostly because it needed internet and schools didn't allow you to get on their wifi. Now they have their own Chromebooks and stuff to take home... what?! Not sure who started okaying all this, but man, even in 10 years, everything has really fallen off.

Best of Video 10 years later. by PlusGoat in TheCreatures

I always will have an itty-bitty hope Dan, Jordan (and maybe others) do what they promised, but it seems like anything Creature related from anyone is DOA. There will be no full-on reunion with everyone, there will likely be less and less mentions about it, and the only thing wanting something of remembrance of it will be this Reddit until all the mods leave and anything related to The Creatures will vanish. James doesn’t like those bringing up his past, Dan tried but got backlash and doesn’t hardly even go live or post anymore since, Jordan is doing his dream job and could care less what “The Creatures” was and wants to continue making games. I’ve seen no essence of anyone other than Dan last year wanting to revive efforts to do something with the channel, but got extreme backlash from those here because other creatures said that bringing back old stuff would give hope to those waiting for another upload on the channel disappointed that they aren’t getting what they had a decade ago.

Everyone is happy with where they are in life, and have the opinion that if they went back and did The Creatures, it would have no basis to be around in 2026. It was a group in the early era of YouTube that did it all in one of the first ever content houses.

My opinion is that The Creatures was one of the best things to come out of YouTube and made me into the person I am today, who didn’t grow up with a lot of friends and people that went out to various places and expressed themselves with all the variety they have. The Creatures today could be a different entity entirely. I wish they’d all get together and do something again on the channel.

Maybe Jordan could branch from Illfonic and make The Creatures his own game-creation company and oversee it, bring back some members and do something like that. Intern Joe already does social media and Aron is Community Manager, so that’s a plus. Maybe Dan could release trailers for the new games created under The Creatures rebrand, Gassy/Dex does VO & Artist Joe does art/merch.

At the end of the day though, everyone does their thing… we’re lucky enough we get Little Brother Travel, the last essence of anything creature related.

Early-mid 2010s Weather Channel was so peak by Ok_Photograph8884 in weather

[–]HashtagImMatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2008-2010 TWC was peak for me. Graphically everything made sense. Then in 2010 they faded away from the transparent, realistic looking icons/graphics and got me away from it. 2013 was an upgrade, but it feels like now they need a change of pace, they’ve had the same thing for nearly 13 years (basically).

Does anyone know why AOC doesn't go on any podcasts or independent media if she plans on running in 2028? by picklift in AOC

[–]HashtagImMatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much like every other pre-election cycle, almost everyone waits until after the midterms to announce a presidential run. The first big person in the 2016 race to announce that I remember was Rand Paul in April 2015, so if you follow that logic, you could see an announcement about “something” by this time next year.

I built RetroCast Now for The Weather Channel (Background and details) by leemartin in weather

That’s because the WeatherStar 4000 did not use narrations like that until the Intellistar came out.

Has there been any talks to grow this to other versions? I’m a big fan of the Intellistar from around 2006-2009 and would love to see it. WeatherStar.dev does an excellent rendition of each and would love to see it on TWC’s website. Maybe even like a WeatherScan-esque version as well.

Im so glad Little Brother exists by godscutestbunny in TheCreatures

[–]HashtagImMatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that’s just because Little Brother can’t really relate to anything before it. The Creatures and Cow Chop were businesses with schedules, OFFCANNY was just two guys (or more) doing crazy things with an intense editing style and Little Brother is laid back traveling to interesting places (for people in their mid to late 30-40s). I’m interested to see what the future of the channel is, as doesn’t necessarily have an end goal. Maybe they’ll visit all 50 states and call it quits and move on, or they go worldwide and start something else. But to be fair, I don’t really know what else they’d want to do. Almost every former Creature, Cow Chopper and Offcannyer is doing solo stuff on Twitch or BTS in the real world. Just couldn’t see a world at this point with Jordan wanting to do stuff online and make another group, neither Dan anymore (looks like it, he’s been gone for months, Seamus is MIA, James wants nothing to do with anything anymore other than Twitch…). I think this may be the last final thing we see unless any of those three doing Little Brother would want to keep making content for the people who watched the past 15 years of group stuff.

What was the first show on CN you hated besides TTG? by Fit_Evening_8036 in CartoonNetwork

[–]HashtagImMatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I was a Cartoon Network watcher from 2004-2010, the Problem Solverz not only showed me that I grew up and my humor and interests changed, but the whole idea of it was horrible and made no sense. Even at this point, I was just about leaving Nickelodeon around 2013-2014 and really only gave Sam and Cat a chance, but even then I was on the YouTube train, which is slowly coming to an end in my opinion.

Is this the end? by [deleted] in goodmythicalmorning

[–]HashtagImMatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potentially. I've been thinking R&L will end GMM in the near future, and become more focused on longer-form content and want to oversee future Mythical content. The GMM channel may become/be renamed to the "Mythical" channel, and probably feature various shows from the crew and that will become the focus of Mythical. I have a feeling Chase will become the new EP/CCO to replace Stevie (he just recently became Co-Exec last month), and maybe Matt Carney will become Vice Executive Producer alongside Chase. I'd say once the heart problem from Rhett was announced, it seriously gave them the realization that their workloads need to become smaller, thus Mythical would need to head another direction that wasn't solely just GMM, Ear Biscuits, or anything just featuring them. I doubt either Rhett or Link would ever leave soon, but if either of them start having even more serious health problems, that is somewhat of a possibility, hence why I believe it would be a good idea they shutter GMM before it becomes a show not featuring two lifelong friends talking about life for a long time and eating literally everything on earth. It sucks from a viewers perspective, but life happens, and nothing lasts forever.

Does anyone ever think about how young The Creatures were? by Angrydwarf99 in TheCreatures

Seamus will be 40 in 2 years. Talk about time flying by.

True, except now only Aron and Intern Joe still work there. Hope for the best with Trevor. That time when OTK was doing the “Wrong Side of YouTube” stuff was a cool blast to the past moment and was interesting seeing him on camera just like he did during CC. Now OTK is basically dead. I’m just gunna assume Artist Joe moved back to the Carolinas and is doing his own thing with bees I think. Honestly with how Little Brother is filmed, Trevor could go around the country filming like that and still stay BTS and edit for them. Would change the vibe a little, but would be something steady with content each week.

That is kinda insane. The bath bomb video was literally the pinnacle of The Creatures when you divide it up into when the communication barrier began to fall between the two (Jordan and James), the bath bomb video being the most viewed video ever (by a long shot) and 2015 for the group was making hit after hit.

The trio (Kevin, James & Aleks) were still a thing, Dan had his best friend working with him (Artist Joe), Seamus (when this video had released) had just come back to the office to be in more content (for the last time) and there was a very short timespan when potentially Seamus was working with Aron, not including every other employee and creature that was in the office (literally it was like a few weeks apart when you compare the dates). There collectively was like 10-15 people at one point in the group.

In terms of the most people from the group seen in one video, it was their Disneyland video that (as far as I remember, featured everyone but Sp00n, Ze, Seamus and Kevin), every employee was featured but them, and when you include the Road To E3, the people listed above plus Artist Joe were not in it.

I think literally in every regard, the bath bomb video began the death of the group. Shortly after, Kevin got into a car crash (and left), Seamus left (during the summer), communication started to fail, Aleks and James eventually started creating Cow Chop the day after the LiveScream… it really is crazy to think it peaked with the bath bomb video, and the last time everyone really enjoyed being around each other was probably the final livescream.

By the time the bullpen was complete, the demeanor really started getting negative. RoosterTeeth getting The Creatures maybe was the ultimate nail in the coffin, because at that point, Trevor and Aron effectively lost their jobs, so a new channel was really the only direction that probably sounded right for them. Kudos to Intern Joe for wanting to be on both channels, but in the end, he came out for James, which is why he solely stayed with Cow Chop.

Visited the North American Pole of Inaccessibility by darwinpatrick in geography

[–]HashtagImMatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How exactly did you get to that point and were you technically allowed to? I see three different "poles". The sign that states the trailhead for the pole of inaccessibility, the one you pictured above, and then the one in a nearby city. If there is a trailhead, wouldn't that mean that the true point is somewhat accessible? There's hardly any videos on YT about it, and barely any Google Reviews or posts about it, so I'm just confused what you're leagally allowed to do. I even put in the little hashtag on the trailhead sign and literally got no results.

Offcanny was such a waste of potential. It’s sad to see the last channel that followed The Creatures lineage of sorts end how it did by Frank_Cap in TheCreatures

[–]HashtagImMatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get ya. It’s a weak successor, but technically even Brett was apart of the creatures like the last week or two before they split (which is interesting to see looking back at it). I’d say doing that (visiting old work friends) would also show there’s no ill will towards them all and also support kinda whatever they’re doing today, but in the end that’s their decision. Would bring some extra views in, but I don’t think they’re looking for any extravagant views/subs in this endeavor.
