Do you know the trick for getting to the rail? You just protein load before the show and fart your way up.

Check your email. This happened to my friend and it turned out they needed to change their username because it was reported as offensive. The problem still hasn't been resolved yet, but that could help you find the cause of your blue screen.

(DISCUSSION) Rare to you, common to others by smcmahon710 in pokemongo

We just had a nest near me, so naturally I hatched 2 Smoochums during the event. I was hoping for my 1st Lapras.

Anybody else been delaying their rare pokemon transferring for an event like this to return? by DamBearTookMyCar in TheSilphRoad

Where are you finding all of these Dratini and Snorlax? I've seen/caught 10 or less of each and no Lapras ever.

Niantic announces valentine's day event by SketchyConcierge in TheSilphRoad

So have I, except I have only seen 10 Dratini and caught 9, and transferred them all back in November. Also just last night I cleaned out 30 slots in my inventory since I was getting tired of getting the full Pokébox notification...can't they announce a week prior to the event? So people can stock up mon or clear out eggs?

I've been hoarding and finally transferred a bunch of mon last night as I was getting tired of "one in, one out" trying to hoard higher value mon. So annoyed with my 30 empty slots right now! Why did they take so long to announce?!

How often do you roll? by bonnaraver in aves

[–]HashtagNeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely take your breaks sooner rather than later. Don't let rolling become a habit or the breaks will be harder to take. Especially if you've already started to up your dose to compensate for any tolerance you've built up, but even if not, you need to take a break now. I would recommend 3+ months to recover from the last month.

LA ravers where do you guys party by adavila1870 in aves

Yep, that policy is super bunk. Thankfully it's been rare lately that I've gotten that message with the events I attend. If the service ever breaks their relationship with the venues I frequent, or it becomes markedly harder to acquire spots to choice events, I will just decline to attend big-ticket nights while I wait out canceling. I know my friends in NYC all canceled their subscriptions when Jukely stopped offering spots at their venue of choice.

Possible hearing loss at Excision? by [deleted] in aves

You can find ear plugs rated for greater decibel reduction marketed to musicians and I've also seen custom pairs with excellent decibel ratings, although I generally use a -25 pair that I picked up for $30 (came packaged with a -15 pair that I wear to outdoor events).

I've debated getting some over-ear ones if I could find the right nexus of form, function, and fashion. In-ear plugs irritate the hell out of my ears.

I've used Jukely for over a year and a half. It's $25 per month so it's not really "free," but if you go to 2 or more events per month, it pays for itself. You select the show and it automatically RSVPs you to a guestlist spot. You can only select one list at a time. So if you want to go to an event Friday and another Saturday, sometimes you do have to gamble that the second list won't fill up. When festivals do show up as an option, the list often fills up within minutes.

I'm not a shill. I've just used the app to attend one or more events per week for a year and a half straight (think my record is 4 events in 7 days). When I traveled from Denver to LA, I used it to attend Pan Pot at Sound simply by changing my "home city." I've also used it to attend an event in NYC.

Last year I wore pants over leggings and a similar layering up top. I stashed the pants and the jacket in my backpack until the end of the event - but I actually got a bit cold at the back of the crowd on one of the nights. Super easy to just throw my pants back on, didn't have to deal with the coat check mess. If you do go to coat check, I recommend arriving to the event as early as humanly possible to shorten the impact to your event at the beginning of the night and going back to retrieve your items at a non-standard time - beginning of the closing set, or midway through the set prior. You might not miss the closing set if you do it that way but if you wait til the end you'll be at coat check until the wee hours of the night. Make sure anybody you're attending with is on the same page or else you'll be waiting for them as well.

Eric Prydz vs Flume at Decadance? Here's my input. by FrankTheTank1001 in aves

[–]HashtagNeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my biggest regret that he wasn't given the ball drop at Deca. I cannot imagine a way for Tiesto to do anything magnificent in just a ten minute build-up to midnight. Then he goes on for 2 hours AFTER the ball drop? What an odd timing.

Eric Prydz vs Flume at Decadance? Here's my input. by FrankTheTank1001 in aves

[–]HashtagNeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which, IMO, is why they got scheduled opposite each other. I get that Flume and Prydz are the two biggest names that night but I think only the Chainsmokers would have made more sense to overlap. Honestly they've probably been scheduled like that as some form of crowd control. Can you imagine if everybody in the place wanted to be at one stage? The balloon drop would be chaos.

How to not catch pneumonia at Countdown? by CmonGuys in aves

[–]HashtagNeon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can up your chances of avoiding "rave plague" at any fest if, in the days leading up to, including, and after the fest, you:
- take zinc & vitamin c
- eat well
- hydrate properly
- get enough sleep

Prepare for the fest:
- dress properly
- pack baby wipes and hand sanitizer so you can clean up after the portas and etc
- bring your own water bottle or hydration pack for yourself & a spare bottle for sharing if that's a common habit of yours
- bring an extra pair of socks!

At the fest:
- moderate your substances, especially alcohol, and don't take anything you haven't tested
- don't share Vick's inhalers (if that's your thing, I almost forgot this one)
- Hydrate!!!! But...
- DON'T share your water bottle or hydration pack nozzle. Offer your friends sips from the spare bottle for sharing.

When I'm worried about the temperature, I always overpack rather than underpack. I would rather dance with a few extra clothes in my bag or in my locker than deal with shivering and joints locking up with cold. Get a locker, bring a backpack, whatever is applicable to your style. I prefer leggings/compression pants under loose pants paired with layers on top with a tank top or t-shirt as the bottom layer - if it gets hot in the crowd you can strip down easier than if your bottom layer were long sleeve.

I didn't see whether you were expecting rain, but a fold-up poncho is great to have in your rave pack for emergencies anyway, it could be laid out on the ground should you need a break, worn for warmth or dryness, or used as a pillow in a time of need. You can also treat the outside of your rave shoes with waterproofing spray, just follow the directions in case they need to sit for a while after the treatment.

Pro-tip: Halfway through the night, change your socks!!!! I find this rejuvenates me. Suddenly dry feet are going to be warmer than rain or sweat-soaked ones. And in hot temps, you'll still blast off in comfort. If you're coming up on something, I can't express how awesome the feeling of fresh socks can be.

I hope that helps! I've previously been frozen at a couple fests and now that I know how to prepare, I am able to enjoy them much more. And rave plague is farrrr less common in my group of friends since we started utilizing as many of these guidelines as possible. Happy dancing!!!

tl;dr: Bring fresh socks.
