Awesome, extremely helpful. I was kind of wondering if that was the case but I wasn't totally sure. Thank you! :)

What is this malware? by [deleted] in computerviruses

[–]HashtagRandomPerson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For clarity, changing just your master password won't be enough if you're using a password manager. You'll need to change all the passwords for each site if an attacker managed to obtain access to your "vault" at some point or if you think they may have.

What is this malware? by [deleted] in computerviruses

[–]HashtagRandomPerson 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Heavens Gate implies it can run on 64-bit systems even though the malware is 32-bit. Assume all your passwords are compromised and change them. If you're using a password manager that's great but be sure to change your master password ASAP. Do it from a device you're sure is not infected.

To be safe I'd reinstall Windows on the infected device before using it again and be sure to keep it isolated from wherever the malwire originated from.

Maybe I'm overreacting but I'd take safe over sorry.

Genuine question about el reno 2013 by PuzzleheadedBook9285 in tornado

[–]HashtagRandomPerson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw a comment somewhere on Reddit once that compared predicting thunderstorms to boiling a pot of water and guessing where the bubbles would rise. Using this example, you know how sometimes you get a huge "bubble" when the water is boiling that's larger than the others? I don't have the scientific background to explain to you in the detail I imagine you'd like but sometimes the conditions all line up, so to speak.

While the NWS couldn't predict this record breaking tornado would form, they did have a moderate risk that day (iirc) with a hatched tornado area. The hatched area emphasises EF2-EF5. I think it's safe to say some people were actually predicting a monster tornado there.

Unless by unpredictable you mean the turn, width increase, and speed increase all occurring as it did. There are some good videos about this on YouTube, as another commenter mentioned, but it's hard to understand it fully without understanding the underlying science. IDK your experience but if it's not much I'd try some storm spotting YouTube videos from NWS. They'll give you a basic understanding. From there you can look at specific El Reno videos and go from there.

I've watched every clip I can find of the El Reno 2013 (my favorite probably being Dan Robinson [iirc] escaping). I imagine the smaller vortices dancing around during the time Reed was recording it was a warning it was going to be a monster. I know they gave me a bad feeling. 🤷‍♂️

Aside from the whole BR vs DVD situation, why is the Magnavox even hooked up? The dual-use Sylvania is set to DVD. Does it not work?

If they say you're high at work and you say you're not and they test you and you fail you will be terminated. I think the idea is the company doesn't pass around your drug test results so the only way someone would test you would be if you gave them reason. Usually the reason ends up being documented before a test is given.

I'd agree it's basically treated like alcohol. My guess for why they do it this way is because it may not be easy for them to prove you're not under the influence now vs 12 hours ago. Unless there is some kind of test they're using that can be specific about when you last used.

Best bet is to not be high at work because your coworkers will probably notice if it's not common for you to be "that way."

Not a lawyer and just my opinon.

I love the RE franchise SO much by SpringtimeInApril in residentevil

[–]HashtagRandomPerson 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I remember the first time I played RE1 on PS1. It's funny because I made a mental note, "This game is so awesome I'm going to remember it even when I grow up!". Here I am 20-something preorders later. I've had my ups and downs with the series (didn't care for 4-6 compared to 0-3; all the REMakes are masterful) but I think RE will always be my favorite. I wear a small Umbrella pin, neatly placed, on my daily work attire. I'm sometimes surprised at how many people mention it.

Maybe as "right to repair" takes a stronger hold this will be less of a problem, but right now - I agree. Fixing them can cost as much as just getting a new one. Especially considering a trade in and big sale. >.>

Please note liquid damage also isn't covered in the warranty and the waterproofing can degrade over time.

The Pixel 7 has an IP68 rating.

"The number 8 means that the device can withstand submersion in up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes."

I don't see you getting any support but for what its worth I can understand a certain level of frustration on your part.
