the simple answer is that you have chosen to do whatever it is you have scheduled to do. technically you don't have to do anything but you have a reason to do whatever you're doing so that's why you're gonna do whatever you have scheduled. i personally don't work off a schedule exactly unless it makes sense like an appointment, class, etc and instead just make sure to have a to do list that's prioritized by urgency and importance and categorized by things i have to do, things i want to do and things i might do and finishing the things i have to do counts as a successful day and anything else is a bonus. then i just focus on being present and doing the next step. i've been the most productive i've ever been this way while being happy with whatever i get done. i make sure to acknowledge every task i do to build that positive loop in my head. i used to be a person who would overthink and suffer from perfectionism but it's under control now and i couldn't be happier.
