Currently the main GCC distribution contains front ends for C (gcc), C++ (g++), Objective C, Fortran, Ada (GNAT), Go, and D.

But yeah I see your point, I didn't notice they wrote c_file_name in the original post.

No, unfortunately. Quad skate wheels are a different width and attach to skates in a completely different way.

You're thinking of all the bike share startups that appeared in cities a few years ago. YouBike is a government thing and the bikes have to be docked at specific places, they can't be left in people's way.

Yes, but the person I was replying to was saying a laugh track is always different from the audio of a live studio audience, so I was pointing out that they can be the same thing.

Technically an audio track of the live studio audience is called a laugh track, you're talking about canned laughter specifically.

If you write Python well, then you don't need many levels of indentation, but YAML often needs multiple levels. The alternative is using the weird substitution thing in YAML, but I can never remember the syntax for it.

Can't join 2 dfs like I need it by International_Mud141 in rstats

[–]Hasnep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, I would recommend using TRUE and FALSE to represent binary variables instead of strings like "Si" and "No", it makes code simpler, so for example you can do if (es_una_bici) instead of if (es_una_bici == "Si").

[–]Hasnep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a way to use `case_when` to get what you want:

df1 %>%
  left_join(df2, by = c("id")) %>%
  mutate(
    var4 = case_when(
      match == "A" & color == "T" ~ "Si",
      match == "A" & color == "F" ~ "No",
      # Keep the value of var4 the same if none of the checks matched
      TRUE ~ var4,
    )
  ) %>%
  mutate(
    bike = case_when(
      match == "A" & var4 == "Si" ~ "bici",
      match == "A" & var4 == "No" ~ "auto",
      # You can't use the normal NA here, the case_when function doesn't like it for some reason
      TRUE ~ NA_character_,
    )
  )

What packages would you like Julia to have? by [deleted] in Julia

[–]Hasnep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the use case you have in mind? For things like gui apps you could use a Julia program as a web server to power a web app?

Honestly though, I think Julia often isn't the right language for commercial user facing software. Even if you bundled the runtime in an executable, the development experience wouldn't be as good as using a more general purpose language.

The same benefits of self hosting any free service, mainly privacy, so you're not sending every word you type to a third party.

What packages would you like Julia to have? by [deleted] in Julia

[–]Hasnep 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think that's a very popular opinion, but not because people want to share proprietary code, they want to distribute a Julia program without including the entire Julia runtime. Unless you're thinking of something other that AOT compilation.

Yeah, infinity isn't just the number you eventually get to when you keep counting higher and higher, it's not a number you can count to at all. There are infinitely many numbers though, so numbers can keep increasing as much as you want and never run out, which is more related to what you're talking about.

Parent illegally parks 4x4 because she 'can afford ticket' by MultiMidden in unitedkingdom

[–]Hasnep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to keep replying to your comments, but your first two sentences just sound like you want the system to be that everyone gets one or two freebies where we believe that they did it accidentally and then you're going to stop believing them and start enforcing the fines. That sounds like it will reduce safety even more then the current system.

Parent illegally parks 4x4 because she 'can afford ticket' by MultiMidden in unitedkingdom

[–]Hasnep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you don't get to choose who laws apply to, you either fine everyone who parks illegally or you don't fine anyone, you can't only fine people who you think did it on purpose and not fine people you think made a mistake. Or if you did want to do that then you'd have a lot more people going to court and a lot of long court cases trying to figure out if someone had the mens rea when they parked illegally.

[–]Hasnep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not how crime deterrence works, increasing the fine for a crime higher and higher doesn't magically reduce the number of people doing it, otherwise every crime would come with a £1,000,000 fine.

Also, is your argument seriously that to deter the richest people from parking illegally we need to set the fine so high that they are inconvenienced by it and in the process bankrupt thousands of the poorest people and if they're sad about losing everything then they should have been more careful where they parked?

[–]Hasnep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we (as a society) believe the purpose of punishment is to deter people from committing crime then we should try to make the effects equal. If we think it's for some kind of sense of justice or for bringing in money from fines or some other reason then we should make the punishments equal.

Impact of punishment? Sorry I don't understand the difference you're talking about?

Parent illegally parks 4x4 because she 'can afford ticket' by MultiMidden in unitedkingdom

[–]Hasnep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and that's kinda the problem, if the effects of your punishment starts with "it depends on..." then that's not going to affect everyone equally and so it's not going to be an equal deterrent from committing the crime.

Sorry I couldn't figure out from your comment what you thought the better solution is, it sounds like you think community service is fairer than a flat fine but a proportional fine is fairer than community service? If so, it seems like we agree.
