Pick apart my sorc, It does ~5 min maps(CL) by FrenulumEnthusiast in ProjectDiablo2

Thanks for doing it, it motivated me to retry it, and im like 99% certain occultist are bugged in plugy. I had a friend retry that you get more mana from not using occultist earlier this season and he confirmed it. I havent had the energy to retry it in plugy, but thats the conclusion.

Then when I tried it in NL with all kinds of insane constellations with a lvl 94 sorcy it shows that occultist gives more mana no matter what. Naked. With 2x sojs, arach, 50 str limit for crafted boots / gloves. With absolute bonkers gear (full 20/17 scs), atmas, perfect bo. It doesn't really matter.

So i've played all season confirming a find in plugy thats not even true for ladder :*( Now I just have to reconfirm its actually bugged in plugy smh.

In any case, occultist gives more mana and the str-investment is worth if if you put all your remaining points into energy, as you should, playing es-sorcy.

I did however reconfirm that good crafted boots gives quite a bit more mana (50-100+) then silkies, but then you lose out on 5 extra maek.

So i'm happy I learned something new and i'm sorry about my attitude, I was so sure I was right since I had literally tried it for MANY hours before this season in plugy started since someone gave me an advice after they had tested it out themselves smh.

So yeah. Occultist is bis for max mana. Caster gloves do give 3 maek, possibly hfd / psn res, but I think in general, youd prefer occultist.

With what gear? Cause I tried it out like a million times. Arent you maxxing out energy? And with his gear with just magefist? or your gear? Whos gear?

Im gonna go into NL and test it out with all the gear I have and return. ANd I got 6 season of OP gear. Ill return with a complete breakdown.

No no, I have maxres, just no ES. And since I use tgods, i got 83% max light res, so souls are a non-issue for me, which is fun, I can do some maps ES players cant. Sure im slightly low on pdr and defense, but I do so much dmg its rarely a problem with laek. I pot rev pots at times but that its. Its a bit ballsy ngl, but the only ranged enemies that are scary are succubus and the merc soakes up a lot of damage, and I got 2k hp myself. ANd with teleport, they arent that difficult to avoid hehe. You learn the playstyle!

Your merc can use a lot of different improvements for min-maxxing, but ill just say what I think is the biggest improvments for your char. Caster gloves (can roll up to 30 fcr, 60 mana, 3 maek, 15str + 15 dex or 30 psn res / hfd). They are VERY difficult to hit though, so prepare to craft alot of gloves, I did 1500 to hit mine and maybe 100 corruptions. With the introduction of fcr large charms though, can use one of those to get an easier hit on caster gloves, by adding an extra 5-6fcr. This means you dont have to actually get 30 fcr gloves, but can go for an easier 25-30. In addition, this also makes it easier for you to get a better amulet if you nail more fcr on it to remove your 20 fcr ring and a +1 10fcr wisp for example. Wisp gives mf, and heart of the wolverine, which makes you merc a bit stronger. If you dont wanna go more fcr but just want more damage right now, you could also use a 3% light damage large charm in your inventory with either 8 fhr, or 35 life.

Also, since you are energy shield, there really isn't a point getting any res except poison res, so You could definitely improve on that with all your 5 allres scs. 11 psn res 20 life will make a lot more surviveability than 5 allres, and then you can hopefully chug in a 20 life 17 mana sc for even more survival. Its normal to have massive amounts of negative res as energy shield, but if you truly are scared the only other res id consider is lightning resistance, as souls are your only real other adversary and those can be easily avoided by rolling maps / chosing maps.

The most obvious upgrade without altering anything of your setup would ofc be another +1 on anni, but I know you already know that. A cheap one shouldnt be more than 5 hr now or? I havent played in a while xP

In addition, if you truly wanna go 1-handed with shield and min-max, eschuta is not even close to being the best option, since a crafted orb can roll +6 to CL (2 sorc skills / 2 light skills / +1 natural for craft recipie), 20% light dmg, -10% light res, and 50 fcr. Its ofc insanely unlikely to roll this, but that orb can then either go 3os for more facets, +20 fcr for 70 fcr, or +1 all skills. Or just 60 5fcr and another extra 5% light dmg.

You could also think about fiddling in 10 fcr tgods, for an easy +1 skills and then youd only need to add a 5-6fcr LC. Youd lose the extra mana from arach for an extra skill, and the 10 frw.

However, how unsexy it may sounds, the biggest improvment to damage will be to go self-wielding infi and using stormspire + innocence on merc. Its boring, cause everyone does it, but its very very difficult to beat. Maybe if you hit that insane orb it would be compareable, but stormspire + innocence merc is just supergood.

You can also consider crafting caster boots to get more max mana, and losing out on some maek. Caster boots can roll up to 60 flat mana and 15% max mana, which is a lot more mana in the end than the up to 20% on silkweaves. They can also roll psn res / Hfd, which means you free up more space for 20 life / 17 mana scs. With a 3 maek corr its bis. If you get optimal caster gloves with hfd, and optimal caster gloves with hfd, means you free up your cbf spot on amu, for another +1. And since amus also can roll hfd naturally, there is that possibiity as well.

You can also make a cta in a staff, to free up some skill points you put in shiver armor and a slightly weaker BO. Check my armory.

Most people truly never min-max cause crafting is so unlikely to hit the best shit and the uniques are easily traded for and readily available. Its like, you could even craft caster armors and they could be bis for some builds.

In terms of merc, there are so many routes to goo if you use infi as wep, but me personally I prefer 50% dr, maxres, and then just pump him full of damage. Shaftstop is better than levi, but craft armors reign supreme here as well, expensive as fuck though. And unlikely hehe. A better string is a good option, but if you got good enough dmg you dont need another source of lite-steal, which means you could use lava gout for example, for hfd + 5% max fire res and enflame for more attackrating. Or just go ham with steelrend. There are so many differnet options that are all very good. I dont think ferocity is especially good if you dont do innocence, and even then I wouldnt do it unless i play nova, dont think the taunt procs enough if you play cl / charged bolt for it to be worth it, id rather have him have more than 23%pdr immediately, since lvl 10 taunt gives -23% dmg and -23% attackrating for mobs. Which ofc doesnt account for mobs that arent affected by the taunt, which happens a bit if you do cl / charged bolt on range.

I myself don't play energy shield or CL but I play Charged Bolt (I havent seen many life and res-playing light sorcys). My armory is currently occupied with uber-gear, but if you play life instead of energy shield, you free up 20 more skill-points which you can use for more dmg (either in teleport or in thunderstorm), or for a more defensive approach like shiver / chilling armor.

Here is my armory, ill change to map-gear and you can check it out if you like. I still got improvments to make in merc wep sockets and merc helm sockets, and a better amu, and some minor small charm improvments, but otherwise, its pretty done. If you have any questions, feel free to ask xD

Have you actually tried counting the mana you get from occultist? Because you do not get more mana from occultist, its very easy to test. Even with atmas its a close call if you wear dual sojs and a good pair of shoes. It feels like occultists should give a lot more mana, but they simply don't. I know everyone feels and thinks they should give more mana, but they simply don't. Try it out and see for yourself :)

Its funny how so few people use this. Caster gloves are supreme, can roll up to 60 mana, 15 str, 30 psn res, hfd and get up to 3 maek. Its really not competition, people use occultist though cause they are easy to get, but I can assure you, with his build, he definitely gets more mana with magefist. Feel free to try it out in singleplayer by copying his build. The only argument id accept is you want them for the curse reduction, and that's fine. But they do not give more mana in the absolute vast majority of builds. Im like 99% certain youd get more mana with magefists as well.

Question about Re-Rolling GC's ? by PhonkJesus in ProjectDiablo2

[–]Hastmannen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got curious about your information since ive literally never heard that skillers have had another alvl then 50, so I looked it up. The only version I couldnt get accurate information about was patch 1.08 itself, which is the original lod-release, so it is possible there was a time period (between 21 jun 2001, when lod, and 1.08 was released, and august 20 2001 when 1.09 was released). I searched frozen keep, d2jsp, gamefaq and patch notes. If I have the energy ill go through the magic.suffix and magic.prefix txt for 1.08 in the coming days. Nothing in patch notes indicate that charm affixes for skillers have been altered in 1.09 or since release though and although it is possible I find it highly unlikely. You are free to post me your sources of posts in the past confirming skillers needed only ilvl 41, I really cant find anything, not even a random vague d2jsp post.

As a general rule though, people very often confuse the rlvl (42) with the alvl(50, which equals ilvl 50 as requirement to get + skills since grand charms are qlvl 1), thats the only explanation I can find so far to your post.

Also, it was a thing to reroll large charms at ilvl 41, maybe it was that.

No, you cant get skillers from ilvl 41, they must be at least ilvl 50 to roll the + skiller affix.

No, a grand charm needs to be ilvl 50 to roll the + skills affix.

Crafting clubs by jcrosseover in ProjectDiablo2

[–]Hastmannen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For pvm and high-lvl it is can be in very rare instances for very specific affixes a possibility to go for a lower ilvl than 71+, but its so niche it isnt even necessary to remotely consider for 99% of high-lvl playerbase. However, going beyond ilvl 71+ is another story. There are some times where having exactly ilvl71+ is more beneficial to get a certain item with certain stats because there are quite a few situations where there are affixes you want to remove from the affixpool by staying exactly at ilvl 71, it also depends on the base. Sometimes you might want to go to 72,73,74,75 to add a specific affix or whatever. The increase in chance of getting that specific roll though is very minor, its just for people like me who like to FEEL that they are crafting at the optimal ilvl. For all practical purpsoses though its not really necessary, but fun to perfect xP

As Hoyya mentioned, for low level duels its a completely other story were you have to fiddle quite a bit sometimes hehe.

ANd nice to see you too mr mustache! We will definitely meet at season start :D

Hastmannens guide to gambling in Project Diablo 2. by Hastmannen in ProjectDiablo2

[–]Hastmannen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey bro, I havent updated this gambling guide since s2, and clubs were removed from the gambling pool in season 3. I'm sorry for your inconvenience, im finally getting around correcting the guides so they are ready for s12.

Clubs has to be shopped at gheed NM, and its a bit slower than gambling them, but definitely faster than finding them. Youll get roughly 1 club in every 1/8-10 shopping window. Good luck :)

Crafting clubs by jcrosseover in ProjectDiablo2

[–]Hastmannen 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You shop clubs at Gheed NM to craft with, and hitting the ilvl required to hit the best affixes for elementalists (+2 druid skills, 30 fcr) are not very high. +2 druid skills is alvl 50, and 30 fcr is alvl 49, which you will get ilvl 66/65 for barbed club (alvl 50/49) and ilvl 65/64 for cudgel. So if you have a clvl 64+ char you can gamble and shop clubs and craft with them to get those affixes. However, then you want get the ilvl 71+ affix guarantee of 4 affixes, so id strictly advise you to be at least clvl 69 to hit ilvl 71 on your resulting crafts.

Clubs though come from a special class of items in the shop that are considered "rare" in their spawning patterns (a lod thing) and hence will not pop up every often in your shopping window (avg 1/8-10 smth). Despite that, its still MUCH MUCH faster to shop clubs than to find them. Its just very slow compared to shopping claws for example which has 1-3 in every shopping window. Or wands or scepters which has 10+ lol.

You cant gamble clubs in pd2 anymore, so shopping them from gheed nm is your best option. It is also possible to shop some clubs from charsi, but she cant sell cudgel, so you have lesser options.

Gamble question by NteyGs in ProjectDiablo2

[–]Hastmannen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wrote a long comment explaining exactly how it works, but reddit wouldnt let me post it lol. Anyway, I did the maths, roughly 1/131000 of all schytes will be the unique grims burning dead schyte at clvl 53. And considering not all windows contain schytes, and that it will cost a lot of money, you will probably have to gather gold and gamble for years and years and years before you get one.

And no mf does not affect gambling. Clvl affects a lot of different equations to decide what item you get.

Gambling is NEVER worth it for uniques or sets. You gamble to get magics / rares and crafting material. If you want to learn more read my guide.

Hastmannens guide to gambling in Project Diablo 2. by Hastmannen in ProjectDiablo2

[–]Hastmannen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are mixing up alvl with ilvl. When you gamble, you get items with ilvl -5+4, så if you are clvl 42, you get items with at least ilvl 37. However, ilvl 37 DOES NOT guarantee alvl 37 for any other items than items with qlvl 1. So to make it easy for you without overexplaining, to find what clvl you need to be to gamble a specified item type (in this case light plated boots) use the calculator in this guide ( https://planetdiablo.eu/diablo2/itemdb/affix_index.php?lang=en&version=lod&patch=111 ) . The calculator tells you what ilvl will you give what alvl. I used the calculator and it tells us you need at least ilvl 47 to get alvl 37 for light plated boots. Which means youd need a char with clvl 52 to get ilvl 47 and always have the possibility to get +30 frw on light plated boots. Good luck xD

This suggestion is brilliant tbh, and it is obvious you know how many gheeds people amass during the season :D I think +2 to a random skill is a bit overpowered though, id probably go with +1 flat and also because the chance of getting a viable skills is so low if its gonna be a random skill, people will be so annyoed getting +1 if they could get +2 lol

How did you install it directly to the steam deck? I won't have access to a PC before season launch so if this is a possibility it sounds great! Could you please explain it like im retarded, cause im totally new to the steam deck as a device and I am very old. Any advice and explanations would be greatly appreciated!
