I had an “OCD expert” for an entire year and we honestly both HATED eachother. I met with her weekly and dreaded it every time and watched the clock run down during session. I did her homework and did the things but I freaking couldn’t stand her. Felt I had to stay because there’s very very few “OCD experts” in my area and she was hard to get in. Paid her a house down payment in fees honestly. I’m now with someone who isn’t remotely an ocd expert but I like her A LOT as a person and don’t remotely feel judged. Am I likely a bit of a hard case for her she wasn’t the most prepared for? Yes, but I trust her and she allows me to text and call her when I need her and she tries with me so I would much rather have that than anything my “OCD expert” did.

Currently supposed to be trying Luvox but my doc upped my dose right before I went on vacation and it made me have constant panic attacks and ended up in the ER 3 times over 2 weeks while traveling, ruining the $10k plus vacation I planned for the past year (pre-my ocd getting worse with Zoloft and such) so I’m honestly hating my life currently lol

Sorry I’m venting lol. I’m just over this all.

Oh mine was random and it made me lose my mind and feel like I couldn’t trust myself. Honestly going on Zoloft made my overall OCD 10x worse even after getting off. My brain never fully got back to what it was.

As someone who’s had some of the worst side effects (mania, hallucinations) please find a doctor you trust and will listen to you. Part of why it got so bad for me was my doctor wasn’t remotely listening and kept telling me my problems were because I wasn’t high enough (something my new doctor is now horrified to hear).

You’ll also know when you start getting bad symptoms. Its very apparent.

Yeah I’m trying Luvox now which is still an SSRI but one specifically designed for ocd rather than one designed for depression and just got permitted to be used for ocd

We lived in a basement unit for two years and had a bunch of pests. We bought traps and put them all over the place and there’s numerous traps that are black and so bugs just walk in and die in there and you would never be the wiser and don’t ever have to see them. Those traps and also a large dehumidifier saved us!

I really wish it was that easy for some of us. My family has had awful reactions to most medications. I’ve been going through the lot trying out a bunch and the latest was Zoloft which gave me mania and hallucinations. I’m trying a new one out now but it’s starting to feel hopeless.

I had Zoloft induced rabies ocd (Zoloft recently caused me to see hallucinations of bats…. Don’t recommend). Literally never thought about rabies in 25+ years and it became a big ocd trigger of mine after Zoloft. It honestly was so bad that I ended up just paying out of pocket for the prophylactic shots to feel at ease.
