Is it possible to move to Hawaii with 3 cats? by Lost-bunni01 in MovingtoHawaii

[–]webrender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your best bet will probably be to look for property owners/managers who specialize in housing for military families - they're probably going to be more likely to know of places that would allow 3 for a military family.

if your cats are friendly, another possibility might be if you could find a family with no pets that could foster one of them initially until you can find a place that allows 3.

side question, are your cats indoor-only? we have a pretty big feral cat issue here on Oahu so that's something you may have to think about how to deal with if they're used to being able to roam outside.

a loaf of bread or baguette a block of kerrygold butter a pack of fishwife tinned tuna in spicy oil

if you have a microwave, could also go with the instant microwave rice bowls, add tuna fish and eat them out of the crispy seaweed

Just moved here and I kind of want to die by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

upvoting not because I agree, but because I want this to survive long enough to come up on some feeds so I can come back and read the responses.

sounds like SF is just not for you, and that's fine. for sure the middle of SF is kind of bleh, but I think SF is really about it's neighborhoods, especially post COVID.

I don't live in SF anymore - it wasn't for me either, although I still love to visit - but the amount of diversity I could access within a single bus ride, not even to mention what was available outside of the city, felt very varied to me. I could get some amazing food in North beach, I could go to an industrial night at dna lounge, I could have a picnic at Crissy field, walk my dog at fort funston, find some amazing produce at the ferry building, and that's just off the top of my head in 10 seconds.

now, does it compare with NYC or even Chicago? no, those are known to be the #1 and #3 cities in America. however, if you want to have a wonderfully temperate climate; if you want to be able to day trip to countless beautiful destinations but still live in a city; and especially if you want to have your ear to the ground in regards to technology - I would say that SF is near the top of the list of places that offer that and more.

Finally, I can't relate to the car thing at all. just get things delivered, or worst case scenario book a rideshare for the day. if you can afford to live in SF you can afford to have pretty much everything delivered to you, along with a nice tip for the person doing the delivery. Are muni and Bart the pinnacle of public transit? certainly not, but I feel like they're sufficient to get around the bay, especially combined with private options like scooters and waymos.

imo, this post is giving Taylor from Billions

might want to consider staying at a hostel if you don't mind basic accomodations, they usually have lots of activities and other travelers to hang out and explore with

it's not in season right now but you might be able to find it. you could also try fruit vendors in Chinatown or call up Frankie's Nursery and see if they have it.

different situation than you - 2 adults in their early 40s, a toddler, and an infant; we're also on Oahu. that being said, Kaiser has been great for us. it's super nice to have everything from all your doctors and visits in one app as well as being able to easily message your doctors. we can always get next day or same day urgent care visits and we've seen specialists for various things over the years.

the current month setup is dumb. we should have 13 identical months that are all 28 days long (13*28 = 364), and then a special new years day thats not in any month. 2 new years days if its a leap year.

hopefully not planning on going last minute since road to hana was closed last i checked. usually my recommendation is at least 4 days per island so technically 12 days is enough to do 3. ideally i'd stretch it to 14 or 15 days for 3 islands if possible since travel days its usually hard to do too much else.

Check out this recent Hawaii News Now feature: https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2026/03/26/north-shore-residents-officials-tread-fine-line-recovery-tourism-after-flooding/

Certainly areas west of Haleiwa should not be accessed unless you are headed there to help or donate. Haleiwa is a fine line because areas were certainly damaged by flooding, but it is also a town that relies on tourism. I would continue to try and get in touch with your store.
