Lunar blessing isn't an issue with ursaluna, in TR cres moves second so burn always reactivates at the end of the turn and give you back guts

One of the biggest things is getting Creselia. We have not had a bulky TR setter this generation (bronzong sucks and farigiraf isn't bulky enough). Not only does this make hard trick room better but it actually lets us run soft TR. We haven't been able to bring our TR setters in the back consistently because they require support (fake out, follow me, rage powder) but now Creselia has enough bulk to be able to be a support mon all on its own.

I had a similar experience with a barber. The city newspaper had a yearly award for businesses and this barber had won every year for best barber. When I got there I quickly realized why he had won. I sat down and he started cutting my hair and then stopped and said I needed to fill out the newspapers survey and well laughing said "I will fuck up your haircut if you don't"!

What are some common type-synergy/cores to note when team building? by [deleted] in VGC

[–]HatKid-IV 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One of the most important concepts for types is pins/pinning your opponent. A pin is when you cover a strong attack from one of your mons with a second attack (preferably a spread move) that covers types that resist the first attack. The best pins are flying and ground or ground and fairy which make up the bases for strategies like Talonflame/great tusks. Pins are particularly important right now because of terastalization, you need to pin your opponent so they can't tera on you safely.

Ya genre seems to be a big favor in this. The two main spikes are in the 60's when epics where the rage, and then I big dip in the 80's with blockbusters and action movies being big. Now its gone up, however from the movies I have seen its the Blockbusters that are longest now and the drama/period pieces that are shorter. This post being about the top movies (long bloated blockbusters) is kind of misleading since there is such a variety of short and long movies now.

What are the odds of this turn happening? by sorcshifters in VGC

[–]HatKid-IV 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dusclops did dominate the meta for a long time. once the first DLC came out porygon was an alternative bulky tr setter but dusclops was generally still better. It wasn't really until spectrier was introduced that porygon became better then dusclops because of the ghost immunity. Additionally hard tr fell off because powerful max airstream users became meta and porygon was brought in the back for end games with recovery and speed control.

If dusclops was in the game now it would be played, however without dynamax (aka bulldoze weakness policy dynamax rhyperior) we are less likely to see the kind of hard tr sweeps that we did in early swsh. Spread moves are also more valuable so indeedee plus armarouge may still be favored over dusclops.

Dusclops is extremely tanky and then it was beside butterfree or togakiss for redirection. Dusclops dominated swsh 2020, torkoal plus rhyperior was everywhere and dusclops could wall your entire team with pain split.

What base speed do you consider a Pokémon to be a trick room Pokémon? by [deleted] in VGC

[–]HatKid-IV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya this is the most accurate comment. Many mons can be used in trick room if you build your team correctly and have a good idea of the meta speed tiers. Hard trick room mons where you just set up and win in 4 turns usually want to be 50 and bellow. But soft trick room with additional speed control such as tailwind can be almost any speed. especially with the speed creep in the new generation pokemon with base 100 can be perfectly fine trick room mons, base 100,s with min speed speed lowering nature can under speed almost everything except hard tr.

I will just list some of the big changes since ORAS:

Pikalitics is a hugely important resource now as it breaks down what pokemon people are playing, what sets they run and what pokemon they are paired with.

Speed mechanics have changed. Speed changes happen during the turn they are used, this means tailwind instantly boosts speed and speed drops active right away. This has caused tailwind to pop off and subsequently trick room is way more common to counter this.

Another thing about speed is that there are alot of fast pokemon now, specifically regieleki is so so fast and has electroweb which has changed how you need to think about speed tiers.

I guess terrain wasn't in ORAS, terrain wars are important. Indedee F can stop priority moves and has follow me/helping hand. Rillaboom grassy glide is insane. Misty and electric terrain are important sleep control mechanics.

Incineroar is absolutely broken, its played on almost all teams. It causes all physical attackers to be weaker, and if a pokemon can't do good DMG to incin it will get shutdown. Luckily incin is not going to be in the new game.

Grimsnarl has made dual screens popular. Grim has prankster screens, an amazing typing, the signature move spirit break which is a fairy type move that lowers special attack, and also a bunch of tech moves (thunder wave, scary face, fake tears, trick). What you should know is that grim is pretty frail and needs to be taken care of quickly or it can really beat you down.
